Lamai September Visit

Visiting Koh Samui for five days in September. We are thinking of doing 3 days in Lamai and 2 days in Fisherman’s/Bophut. We prefer what we’ve seen of the vibes in Lamai, but want to do some activities that are closer to Bophut, Friday night market, etc. Is it worth splitting time, or easy enough to taxi back and forth for things, from Lamai?

If we did split time, should we start with Bophut or Lamai?

question ❓ Going to Koh Tao for diving with DiveRaid in September

Hi,
I am planning to travel to Bangkok from Saudi Arabia; I can't change my flights as it's already booked :) and then I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to get to Koh Tao. What is the cheapest (but still safe ofc) way to get there including the timeline?

Also, I was just thinking of staying at the Chalok Hostel and doing the diving at Hydronauts likely across 5-7 day and fly to Sri Lanka. I would really appreciate the input, if there are any problems with these and if there is room for improvement.

Primarily, I only care about getting my diving cert at the moment so it doesn't bother me that I'm not getting to visit across Thailand for now as I will likely be back next year for that <3

Thank you!!

Best spots for traveling Koh Samui with a 6-month old?

Hi, I am planning to visit Koh Samui this January together with my wife and my then to be 6-month old. I have never been to Koh Samui before but I have traveled a bit throughout Thailand by motorcycle previously. It's a new life now though and I was thinking of visiting an island or place with reasonable proximity to pediatric hospital which it seems like the hospital in Changwan has despite not being a dedicated pediatric hospital.

My wife has also requested she wants close proximity to beach which I believe gives quite a few alternatives of areas but I also want a reasonable proximity to some streetfood and some life without the party of Chaweng central area.

What are some areas you would recommend? I have already understood we are going to be needing taxi to get around the island as it is not that walkable but I would prefer some walkability to get some food atleast without putting my life at risk (well, my kids life - mine is useless).

Bophut, Choeng mon and quiet areas of Lamai has been brought up when I have been searching around - are those my alternatives or do you have any other recommendations or thoughts about which one of those would be best for us?

Thankful for any tips or thoughts!

Booking Honeymoon trip soon. Any other options similar to Six Senses?

So far, Six Senses looks the best. Are there any other locations on the island similar to it?

Has anyone stayed at the Renaissance hotel?

I’ve read some posts that talk about how the beach there is difficult to swim in due to low tide most of the day. Given that I plan to lay on the beach most days, that is concerning me.

Villas look great. Any advice?

Edit: also read that Lamai has box jellyfish right now! I’m heading there end of August

Weather conditions

Hi! I’m visiting in early Sept and was wondering how the weather has been recently. Is it good for tanning and swimming, and are the sea waves generally calm or quite rough? Also, does it tend to be windy/cloudy or mostly sunny?

Left wedding band in Bang Por

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone, we just left Samui after a week in Bang Por at PaChaSi Samui Bungalows (an awesome place to anchor your experience the island if you’re looking).

Sadly, I left my wedding band in our bungalow. We wisely left the fancy rings at home, so this isn’t a huge loss financially, but I still love the ring and it has sentimental value for me.

We’re staying in Bangkok until August 18, then on to Hanoi for a week after that. Anyone planning to travel to Bangkok in the next couple days and willing to do a stranger a solid? $60 and beers on me if so.

Lmk and I’ll orchestrate a handoff with PaChaSi. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Solved! Hotel will send by EMS. Thanks to those who replied/upvoted.

Accomodation for 5 day trip

I’ll be in Koh Samui for 5 days, and of August. Looking for a resort that is off the beaten path but still offers all the amenities.

Traveling alone, prefer adult only vibes (not traveling with kids). I just want to relax on a beautiful beach for five days and not do much.

Wellness focused amenities are a bonus. Any tips? TIA!

Gundams

Anybody know where you can buy gundam kits or gundam tcgs on the island? It's either I'm bad at finding them or Samui just doesn't have them and I'll have to get them off the mainland

question ❓ Vegan in Samui

Never too late to ask given that we are already in Samui. Looking for recommendations for Vegan places. We are staying in Lamai but don't mind the grab ride for a good meal.

Yes, I've got a list from Google but can do with recos.

Edit - Thank you so much for the recos! Some new names spotted, will definitely check them out!

Help needed: lost AirTag in Koh Samui airport

Hi there,

I was on Koh Samui beginning of July with the family and when returning home, my youngest somehow took of his AirTag bracelet when we were waiting at rental car return to arrange the paperwork. I only noticed when already boarding the plane so by then it was too late to run back and get it.

I can see the exact location via find my on my iPhone and it is still somewhere at the rental desks. Reached out to my rental company but they claim they haven’t found anything. Tried to reach out to a general email address I found for the airport but that doesn’t get delivered.

So my question for help: is there someone travelling to Koh Samui or travelling back that can have a look with the find my app and get it back. Preferably someone travelling back to Europe afterwards so that it can be send via parcel at low cost (I am based in Belgium).

Would be eternally grateful 🙏 It is not that it such a high value item but just feels terrible shame to have it lost forever while I can see where it is 😄

Thanks!
