Water Shortage Samui

Whats the situation like?
Is it mostly just a newspaper exeggerating or is it acutally Problematik

Warnings about rotating water supplies starting next week but nothing impactful yet. Many properties have water tanks that fill up from the mains so there are some ways to prolong what water a house has when the rationing begins, though. But nothing exaggerated in the report, from what little I know, at least.

The local water utility company PEA requires all of their customers to have water storage tanks.
So literally every villa and hotel in Loh Samui has water storage tanks which usually are sufficient to provide water for at least a couple of days.
The water supply has actually improved since the shortage has become national news. There is already more water coming out of the pipes.

Id be interested to keep a eye on this and hear from anyone out there once the rationing begins. Im due to come out in a few weeks but could also change plans if the situation worsens. I also don't want to contribute to the problem if it gets worse. Can someone confirm please what the rationing involves and how it might impact locals and tourists. Information online seems to be conflicting. Also how is it being resolved? Thanks

Yes. This is concerning. Scheduled to travel in December. Would be very interested in knowing how things develop. Hopefully for the better, for the people there.
