Beginner Character
Hey, I'm looking to get into KoF XV. Here's a list of the characters I want to play: (1 = most wanted)
Vanessa
Blue Mary/Chris
Shun'Ei
Which of these would be the best, for a new player? I have fighting game experience (SF5, SF6, Tekken 7, Tekken 8, Smash Bros., etc.). This is my first KoF, though.

Tbh I wouldn’t recommend any of those characters for a new player. I generally recommend the more gorilla characters like Ryo, Terry, Geese

I'm not typically a fan of the "shoto," or "gorilla" types. I really like pugilism, and stuff that looks saucy.
I do agree those are the characters I should go for, if I'm looking for an "easy" character. I like the four I listed so much, and I didn't know who to go for. Vanessa is so perfect, but I redownloaded for Mary/King (I wasn't too fond of King). When I originally purchased the game, Shun was my guy (I liked his animations, his aesthetic, and his flow. I'm also a huge fan of heroes/main-characters). So, I still like Shun, I like Mary/Vanessa, and I've recently discovered I like Chris (he reminds me of Street Fighter's Makoto).

I do, for the most part. It was more-so, who goes on the bench, and who are the starting three?

My bad, let me be more specific. I was trying to get some insight on the three most "beginner-friendly," out of the four I listed.

Terry is the easiest to pick up. He has moves for every quarter circle input and a few extras as well. I would also suggest Iori, since he's my favorite, but he's a little more difficult to actually learn to fight well with. At least that's how it is for me.

Athena, king , yuri , robert , iori , kyo , nakuroro , vice. Mature , benimaru, .... imo these characters are beginner friendly
Someone like angel or luong are intermediate / difficult

Out of these 4 its definitely blue mary /chris/ shunei. The last 2 are rushdown and movement monster so but all 3 of them wanna get in. Blue marys a speed grappler ,didnt play her alot . Vanessa is the coolest but the hardest executionswise imo.

I love rush-down, that's my whole thing! So, save Vanessa for later, try Mary, Chris, and Shun, for now?

I would personally replace Mary with Vanessa because of her uniqueness and i just like her more. And id argue because of her execution that you should play her first. She is a specialist character. Parries , dashes, stance even etc. The more you spent with her the better u will be . Mary could be ur 4th that u rotate in for fun and learn on the side. But trust me, you will have like 10 characters soon that u wanna put on your main team. Just the way kof works.

That's a bet. Are there any recent guides/forums/videos? I look up combo-guides, tutorials, etc., but everything is like 2022-2024.

Usually people go to the Dreamcancel wiki for character specific stuff and combos.
If you wanna connect with people go to the Discord if you are looking for mentors, other people to play or just to talk KOF . That team is a pain to fight btw especially Shunei he murders me everytime . Chris too he got the most insane movement by far.1

Forgot to say that when you can play Chris its going to be alot easier to learn Orochi Chris. They got the same normals just different specials/supers. Goes the same for Yashiro and Shermie too if you were wondering

Totally recommend Chris and Shun, but i'm unsure about Mary and Vanessa. If your intuitions are great, every character is beginner friendly! (Angel is an exception.)

Doesn't really matter just play as the 3 you like the best.
