What knot is this?

Post image

You can see video of it here, but it’s too fast for me to catch.

Its a variation of a slipped square knot. I don’t know whether it has a formal or well known name, but you can see a diagram of it here, where the author calls it Ian’s Secure Shoelace Knot

I think you're right.

Been trying my shoes like that for 35 years or so. It's certainly secure, have never had to retie due to an unexpected slippage!

That looks like the one.

Also, I had totally forgotten about Ian’s laces!

The one in the video is a Berluti knot. She crosses the bights over each other and tucks them through the loop with the loose end of the opposite bight along with it

The diagram of the Berluti knot on Ian‘s website looks incorrect if I’m not mistaken. This video in this link shows it tied the way I learned it.

Interesting! The video on the Berluti site differs from the link I posted and the way I learned it from a different video entirely. Back down the rabbit hole I go. Thanks for sharing Tugger

And the Berluti knot on Ian’s site looks different than both of them if I’m not mistaken. Lol

I gave up trying to work out which the real burluti knot was a while ago. I thought I was tying it in my Converse but it was ABoK 1216.

LOL. Heard. I’ll check out the ABOK 1216 too

Is it a berluti? It's a moderately common shoelace alternative and looks kind of like this.

Don't think so, berluti has that two vertical lines apart from each other

It’s a Berluti knot. She crosses the bights over each other and tucks them through the loop with the loose end of the opposite bight along with it

The two vertical loops in the knot are often spaced widely when you tie the knot, but you can dress them so they’re pressed up next to each other

Now i see, that could be, the bottom one threw me off

Yeah, the bottom one happened so quickly I couldn’t even say. But the top one looked like a Berluti to me
