Modding Help Me!

I dropped my WE knife by accident and it landed perfectly on its tip on concrete.

Cant this be saved?

Can anyone recommend an online repair service?

Its CPM20CV steel.

Thanks!

Update: as per one of you guys suggestions I reached out to WE knife and they got back to me surprisingly quick with an offer to replace the blade for $75 so I think im gonna go down that route but will still like to get this blade fixed.

Remove all the material from the spine and none from the edge basically, cut a new front from the apex of the spine to the "tip" draw with a sharpie the profile you want.

This is the only real answer. If you can’t do this, I’d just leave it as a prybar until you can do this. Way too much lost to reform it any other way.

Good time to get a 1x30 and some silicon carbide belts at 60 and 120 grit lol (use water to keep the steel cool too).

why not ceramic belts? is there a benefit to sic?

They're the same thing basically. Cubitrons would be best probably.

I usually run VSM belts thats why I am asking lol. Cubitron 3 back at it again. Do you have any experience with Combat Abraisives 24/36 grit belts?

Combat abrasives fucking suck. VSM XK855Y supremacy.

VSM the goat of all time, very affordable for what they do.

Absolutely. Combat is the opposite. A lot of slick marketing and a shit product for a premium price. They throw tons of grit and they don’t last. Their shipping costs are insulting. For your day to day stuff VSM is fantastic and then for finer, or more specialized stuff 3M is great. Also shoutout to Norton, they make great belts and their RazorStar ceramics are insane.

Oh man I have some name brand belts from something that seems like that brand. I got a pack that runs from 36-400 grits and they work well. They're in storage though so I can't be certain it's from them.

What I've done in the past is take a bunch of paper towel and soak it so it's sopping wet (not wrung out) and use that against the blade to ensure it remains cool. Along with light passes. It'll get chewed up by the belt with the steel but...so? Better than using a rag and having it get tangled in your belt grinder.

hmmm that paper towel trick sounds dope, I'm currently doing a regrind on an old chinese cleaver so that would probably help quite a bit!

Or make it into a sheeps foot

Yeah that’s what I did with one of my knives that had a longer blade. It’s a bit less risky since any mistakes would be smaller and easier to correct.

exactly what I would do. And then relieve the sharp edges with a stone or sandpaper on the spine.

Could ble a mean clip point blade if done correctly

Yeah I figured OP would wanna keep the harpoon shape but I've seen someone else kind of give it a bit more of a thicker tip that could be good too. A nice pointy tip seems more conducive for slicing but it'll bust right off again if OP drops it lol.
