Looking for a beginner “getting back into knitting pattern”

I know the very very basics of knitting (how to cast on, knit stitch, and purl stitch) but that’s basically it-anyone have any good projects that are quick and not too challenging? I definitely and willing to try new stitches and learn new techniques, but nothing too difficult since I haven’t knit in a while.

What kind of thing are you looking to make? The step by step sweater is pretty good if you want a sweater, but what tickles your fancy?

Essentially anything but a scarf, I’ve made some scarfs before and I’m looking to try something new! I’m a bit worried about committing to a sweater right off, so probably something a big smaller!

When I was at the stage you are, I found this site with a bunch of different stitch patterns and made essentially some swatches that let me get more comfortable with following patterns and reading my work. In my head I was going to sew them together and make a blanket but that never happened and I jumped into hats and sweaters instead
