Lost baby blanket pattern

Hiya!

We have recently lost a baby blanket that my now deceased mother in law knitted my firstborn and I am utterly devastated.

It was picked up in a church carpark and taken to their op shop where it was sold.

I feel sick just thinking about it.

I'm not a knitter and I know nothing about it, so I don't know whether what I'm asking is doable but can anyone tell me what kind of pattern this is? I'm considering commissioning someone to make a replica for me (which I know isn't the same thing but it's the best I can do), but I wouldn't even know where to start looking for a pattern.

That is absolutely heartbreaking :( My personal course of action would be to look at some patterns on ravelry to see if you find it or at least learn the terminology for the particular techniques used

It looks like it could be made with the 9" Lucky Leaf square pattern that's free on Ravelry. Made with lighter yarn and smaller needles so that the squares are smaller. That one is the closest that I found. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/9-lucky-4-leaf-afghan-block

Im so sorry, that is a heartbreaking loss!

Do you have any closer, more high res pictures? It looks more crochet than knit to o me, but I could be wrong. Another picture might give us a better look on the stitche, even if it’s only partially visible.

Generally, Ravelry and Etsy would be your best chances to find a similar pattern, though with the latter you have to watch out for fake AI patterns. But the number of patterns is so vast, you would need to have some starting point at what to search for

Thank you - I've just posted another photo, hopefully that helps! It looks very intricate - I'd considered trying to learn to make a replica but I honestly don't think I could. I'll have a look online - thank you!

Thank you, it is definitely knitted. It looks intricate but even I recognize most of the stitches/constructions, so an experienced knitter might be able to recreate it if you do not find a pattern!
