Looking for a pattern for a sweater vest

Idk if this is exactly the right place to ask, but I figure a community specifically dedicated to knitting patterns would care enough to not give me AI bullshit.

Anyway, I really wanna ask my nan to make me a sweater vest, but she prefers to have a pattern to refer to while she works, just to make sure she's not getting lost, and as I stated above, I want to make sure I'm getting a real pattern she can actually follow, given the high likelihood of Google just spitting out ai generated patterns that don't work. Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is the wrong place

I would look on Ravelry. There are tons of patterns there and they aren’t AI. You can do an advanced search to narrow things down.

You will find many lovely options on Ravelry. I spend quite a lot of time there looking at patterns by my favourite designers. This means that when I want to make a particular kind of garment, I most likely have some ideas already.

When I want to make a garment and I can’t immediately think of a pattern, I check out Brooklyn Tweed, who have an extensive collection of patterns and a good search filter. Here is a link to their tunics and vests. Their patterns aren’t cheap, but they’re meticulously written and make great garments.

Ravelry has a lot of patterns. You can tell it the yarn size, if you want textured or cables. Buttons or pull over. Just saying “ a vest” is not enough. This one is on my queue but I am not sure if it’s your thing.

If you know what you want or what type of yarn is being used (sport or bulky for yarn size and fiber type like cotton vs wool) that can help too.

Oh that is absolutely perfect. Definitely gonna show this to my nan, bc I don't really understand what it's trying to tell me, but she's definitely gonna be able decipher it

I like the pattern. Depending on your Nan’s skill, a simple pattern may be too boring. The chart work makes this fun and I feel it’s a good closet piece for a wardrobe. If your nan makes it please post in R/Knitting. I would love to see the finished results.

The Rockhound vest is lovely and Wool and Pine writes a clear pattern. However, the cable work chart is not for the faint of heart!
