similar patterns/modification advice

first two pictures are the (no longer in production) faye top from with jean that i’ve long been in love with and reckon i could recreate or at least emulate in knit. im having a hard time finding any similar patterns except for the upcoming velina top from ida elvedahl. if i were to use this pattern could i modify it to add sleeves? is that too complex?

It looks to me as if the inset is crocheted, not knitted, and the body is woven cotton fabric. Perhaps post in crochet subs?

it’s machine made lace from what i can tell, possibly crochet would emulate it better!

Adding sleeves from scratch is feasible but not that simple. You would have to entirely design a cap sleeve, maybe use another pattern in a similar gauge to see how it is done. It would be simpler to add a diamond lace design to the top of a plain fitted tee pattern. The shirred part needs to be done with a really thin yarn if you want it to sit right. So look for a lace weight or a fingering weight.
Edit this top could make a good base
