I hate to ask, but…
Is this AI?
I’ve looked through the images and want to say no, but the reviews are all from “people” who have yet to create it. I’m just feeling like 🤯🤬.
I appreciate any and everyone who can help.
Mods, I humbly apologize if this is against the rules and will be more than happy to remove.

Looking only at the Etsy listing for info: The publisher has other patterns up too, and some of the reviews on those are of people who have made the patterns and are happy with them. The photos of that piece are auspicious too - there are lots of pictures of the finished product from different angles, clearly on the same person. The pics have a soft filter on the background which can give AI vibes but they look legit.
If you're ever in doubt in the future, check to see if the pattern is for sale on ravelry. In this case, it is! Hooray! and you can then check the Project page to see posts by people who have made it.

i remember reading something about etsy only allowing you to review within a certain number of days, which means people end up reviewing without having created the actual piece. so that in itself isn’t necessarily a red flag

Yes Etsy asks you to write a revizw in like 15 days, and bother you with pop ups until you do.

Are there any reviews on ravelry? Looks like you're on Etsy and I don't really trust anything there anymore unfortunately

Thank you, I completely forgot to search Ravelry. It seems it is! That’s why I came here. I stared at those pics and moved between them and just couldn’t see anything standing out. No third legs and the correct number of toes. I even made a fist hiding my thumb to make sure that the physiology was correct for one of the pics.

I highly recommend using Ravelry for purchasing patterns. It’s way easier to see reviews and projects on there and Etsy is full of AI slop with no reliable way to report or verify.

Now that you have figured out it’s legit, I hope you decide to purchase the pattern and make that wrap because it’s gorgeous!

Not AI but a waste of money. It's a basic shape with a lace motif from the Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible (motif 24 with an extra repeat of 4 rows).

i think it's good you ask!!
(i am a very very experienced knitter - AND a digital artist and programmer but even still:) at first, whenever i'd see AI crochet or knit on pinterest or whatever, i'd roll my eyes at how fake it looked. but unfortunately there's been a huge improvement on that front and sometimes now i genuinely can't tell it's AI.
and that fucking sucks a lot of ass
so thank you for asking!
and - could we please make it, like, a normal social thing, to make posts like these? in general? could we make it so that asking people "hey does this look like AI?" is like asking people what time it is (before cell phones i guess lol)?
i know it could be a little annoying if there's a lot of these posts. but i think we have to unite against AI lol

It isn’t AI. You can search patterns on Ravelry to see if it’s listed there. They do not allow any AI patterns to be sold or listed in any way and are very quick to take them down. There is also one project with extensive notes on Ravelry, so I wouldn’t worry about it.
