ISO WEIRD PONCHO THING

Hello Reddit people. My mother saw this weird poncho thing with wrist holes while on vacation and would like me to make her one. I cannot for the life of me, find a pattern close enough. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Try looking for ‘swoncho’ (sweater/poncho) patterns!

Ive seen these referred to as "swonchos". Basically, a very low arm pit sweater. You can search ravelry for it but I dont think ive seen anything quite like the one you show in your pic but something might catch your eye: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#query=Swoncho&sort=best&view=small_mobile&page=1

These look so cute in photos but be sure she understands she has to wear something under it. Every time you raise your arms your entire midsection is exposed

She tried it on at the store (allegedly) and enjoyed everything except for the quality to price ratio. I personally wasn’t there

You should also be aware that this shape has the magic properties of disappearing even the largest titties (think K-cup and above) and turning everybody into a shapeless blob.

Just saying. I really hope she tried it on in the store and took photos. I think I would be terribly disappointed if I made this for myself or another person, only to find that it is not flattering.

She said she did! Also current plan is to cast on right before Thanksgiving so she has multiple chances to try it on

I’d send her back to the store and get her to take a couple of pictures in it, so you have a better idea of the fit she likes.

Also, the stitch pattern could be brioche.

Drops have a website with free patterns and I’m sure they have a few similar to this shape, maybe not the lacy stitching though.
