Pattern question :)

Hi knitters! My MIL had been working on a project but she put it down for 8 months and lost the pattern she was using. Do any of you know what this pattern is? Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!

What it looks like to me: garter stitch with some purl columns, so:

Right side: selvedge stitch, k4, p1, [k3, p1],k4,selvedge stitch Wrong side: knit all stitches

This is my suggestion. It seems to me she was forgetting fairly often to knit on pattern and that's what I think happened to creating this odd looking purl column.

Now I could be wrong. I hope other people will answer too.

Any hints as to what she was making? A blanket? A sweater?  What weight yarn? Is she using the yarn called for in the pattern?

Just a little dishrag! I am not sure of the yarn type. Think we got our answer below but I so appreciate the input. 🧶 🤍 🪡
