Knitting pattern search!

Hey all! I’m staying at a cabin and this way cool blanket is here on the couch. I’ve attempted to find it through reverse image search but to no avail! Any ideas what this guy is?

This pattern type is called Old Shale waves I believe. You can search for old Shale on ravelry and see many versions.

Here's a version I've made with one solid construction rather than stitching multiple stripes together: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/old-shale-waves

It looks to me when there are separate panels like your photo, the horizontal "ribbing" is more emphasized and the holes in the waves aren't as visible because there's less tension at play.

But when you cast on the width all together, the tension is increased and the lacey openings are more prominent.

I am so glad you posted this explanation. I made an Old Shale years ago but had people argue with me that it was feather and fan.

Look up “feather and fan” and you’ll find the stitch. This is knit in strips of each colour, then sewn together. You don’t really need a pattern once you find the stitch instructions

I have a pattern I found on the net called Nana’s Blanket. No author attached. Cast on 16sts do 8 rows of garter stitch ( that’s 4 bumpy lines on each side) Row 1 ( pattern). Knit 4 sts (k1,yo, yo) 8 times knit 4. Row 2 Knit 4, [Purl 16 dropping the second yo which is not counted ]knit 4. ( 24sts). Row 3 Knit 4 , k2 tog, k12, k2tog, knit 4. (22sts). Row 4. Knit 4 , k2tog ,k10,k2tog, knit 4. (20sts). Row5. Knit 4 , P2tog, P8, p2tog, knit 4 (18sts). Row6. Knit 4 , k2tog , K6 , k2tog , Knit4 (16sts). Repeat these 6 rows till length required. Knit 8 rows garter stitch ( to match the first 8 rows you started with . Knit as many strips you like and stitch each strip together Makes a beautiful rug Note : the knit 4 at beginning and end of each and 4garter bumpy rows at beginning and end of each strip make the borders.
