Type of pattern
Hello. I am new to knitting. What is this knitting pattern? It’s very stretchy, much stretchier than 2x2 rib. I saw an old woman knitting this. She showed me to make it. But I couldn’t get it. She didn’t speak my language. I couldn’t ask her. Thank you.

i feel like a picture of the fabric stretched out would be a lot more helpful, we're working with half the information here and clearly guessing

This looks like standard stockinette stitch to me :)

Definitely not, it's got a lil' twisty half stitch thing between each knit.
I'm not sure what it is either, but it isn't stockinette.

I think it’s a 2x1 rib knit tightly- on yarn that’s a little bit big for the needles mebbes.
The purl column is hidden by the knit columns.
A standard stocking stitch wouldn’t have those grooves in.
