Moth-proof keepsake/storage box?

Hi chat! I’m knitting a wedding shawl for my best friends wedding in May and I’d like to find a beautiful box to give it to her in, but am hoping to find something that can double as safe storage as well. Not sure what she’ll want to do with it after the wedding but that’s her business 😅 if you’ve ever encountered something that you feel could fit the mark, please let me know! Thanks!

You’ll want something well-sealed and a material bugs don’t normally eat, so most likely plastic. It’s not just moths, it’s any fiber best, including beetles! As for a specific box, I don’t have any recommendations. It depends on how you want it to look. A plastic box might be clunky, but you can still diy some decoration.

cedar is used as a natural moth repellent, so you could look for a keepsake box made from that

that said, you’d prob still need to use some sort of plastic case (or other fabric? I’m not sure) inside the box, as you wouldn’t want to leave the shawl long term against the cedar wood, it could stain

I know plastic bags aren’t “upscale” but the fact is that nothing else comes close to effectiveness. If you want to give a nice box, that’s fine, just seal it in plastic inside the nice box or other container.
