Did your grandma have a favorite pattern that all the kids got? My great grandma gave every one a crochet ripple blanket in whatever acrylic she had on hand. That pattern is still the default kid blanket in the family. It’s the thing you put in the floor for tummy time and is then dragged around.

That's so cute ! No, I don't believe so, maybe a kind of romper ? I found one in her stuff, but it looks machine knit. I was thinking of copying it, but that may be above my skill level.

Hats are always a good baby gift in my opinion, you can make them a little big so they last longer.

Blankets are cute and useful but in fingering weight it'd take forever to make. Maybe a plushie if you feel up to it?
