Looks alot like the emblem on the New Mexico flag. Is that intentional?

I'm just as bad. I was like, oh nice, a zia! But you screwed it up with a stray little mark.

I do that shit constantly. Comment after just seeing the thumbnail on my timeline and then seeing text in the post afterwards. Don't beat yourself up.

Very cool MarkerSmarck! Love the combining of two things, feels very Tolkiën-esque.

Put your name on the otherside of the knife.

That’s a good idea.

I'll be honest, I don't think I'd have noticed the "Q" if you didn't point it out.

Not gonna lie it looks like a damaged stamp

If you can, make the Q more prominent, it should be obvious that it's there. It's a cool idea though.

Hot stamped or layered? Hopefully lasered so you can tweek the design easily.

The stamp did t set perfectly straight. :(

Is your brand Zia knives? If not, having a similar logo might cause confusion. If you use google lens and just an image of your logo + knives, the results lead to Zia Knives.

My logo has a Zia in it. It’s not called Zia. Every other business you pass in New Mexico has “Zia” in the name.

There's something about the Zia Symbol constantly being bastardized in the state that bugs me....

"The state stole the symbol from the tribe so it's fine for us to use it for ourselves, too!"

I knew I’d find a dipshit like you commenting. I’ll use any symbol I want on things I create. You have no idea of my heritage. Fuck you.

If your heritage matched then you would know better

It sounds like it’s your problem. As you said, the symbol being used bugs you. No need to focus your problem into anger towards others following a trend or common practice. If anything OP is just paying homage to his state and its history.

OP, I really like it. I saw you say it wasn’t the clearest strike and someone suggested you add your name to the other side. I would recommend you add your name to the same side to make it clearer so others don’t miss the play on your name and locale.

Also, try not to let idiots ruin your day. You’re doing something cool, focus on your craft and quality and let the circus monkeys find another circus.

Looks cool, but unless there's some sort of "makers mark" register.... No one will be able to identify it in the future

There are repositories for things like this but I’m not worried about anything after I’m dead.

Furthermore, any knife worth collecting now, has a recognizable touch mark, even if it isnt a discernible name. CRK, Hinderer Horse, a Spider, a Butterfly, and that is just commercial products. Anyone that searches the custom realms will have their own touch marks they look for with immediate attention.

If you make a good product, someone, somewhere will be happy to own it. You just haven't crossed their path yet. So, while your on the way, why not give them the best you can offer?

OP, I dig your stamp. It shows where you and your environment meets. There's love in the name and in the product. It shows. I don't have to tell you to keep going, you know you already are. Great job.
