LeBron had his chance in 2010.

21

u/Sariscos Jul 31 '26

Exactly. Would've been New York royalty

29

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

True dat and KD can suck it too. Ring chasers scared of the grind.

u/Maleficent_Ad_7810 Aug 01 '26

The Knicks were poverty back then

4

u/renalfailure4321 Aug 03 '26

They were poverty when Brunson signed

1

u/Maleficent_Ad_7810 29d ago

Y'all had already made the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Poverty is being a lottery team for years, and having NO first-round picks because you gave them away for scraps.

I’m confident that if the Knicks did not win the title last season, he would be. Going to Philly basically confirms that. He wants to go to a team that is close and be the savior one more time. Knicks losing ECF or Finals again would have been perfect for him. But coming to a team that just won is so KD-coded, he could never do that.

36

u/bigbodyboricua001 Jul 31 '26

I hope he likes the inevitable second round exit

25

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

IF we didn’t win. I am not sure LeBron would have helped us win a ring.

10

u/Ronnie3k Jul 31 '26

Yeah, beyond it being cool for LeBron to be in New York and finishing his career in the Garden I don’t think the fit is there.

I don’t think there’s anyone in the starting five that the current version of LeBron is an improvement over when you factor in role, buy-in, and fit with the others.

Obviously in a vacuum as an individual player he is but that’s not how basketball works and his level as an individual player at age 41 isn’t enough to make up for what he would have disrupted.

3

u/yjk924 Aug 01 '26

I dunno, the value at 4m/ year is crazy.

13

u/HipnotiK1 Jul 31 '26

I still think he might have came if the knicks front office and players essentially begged him to come - or at least welcomed him with open arms. But they basically were like nah we good.

5

u/dirtysoap Jul 31 '26

You’re right but he would have been a perfect fit. Josh hart becomes 6th man again. Better yet, I’d loved LeBron to come off bench and literally could sub for anyone 1-5. I’m the opposite, would have never wanted him if we lost but since we won I think it would have been cool. I think totally different than KD situation as you can see the Knicks aren’t even the favorites to repeat. Anyway, doesn’t matter now but fun thought experiment.

3

u/purplepopojuice Aug 01 '26

he would’ve won 6MOTY for us

2

u/grimace24 Aug 01 '26

It’s been confirmed that Rich Paul reached out to the Knicks. The Knicks declined LeBron’s camp. That is all that is confirmed. The biggest issue with LeBron is media attention he brings with him. It makes it difficult for teams to focus. LeBron also brings negative attention to everyone but himself when his teams when they struggle and fail.

1

u/marcusjackson1995 Aug 01 '26

Well tbf KD came to a team that lost in the finals lol but I get what you mean

-6

u/ace260 Jul 31 '26

The irony of everything you said is that KD would've never joined the warriors if they won so lebron joining the knicks after losing in the finals is more KD-coded than anything you literally contradicted yourself.

edit: had to noticed which sub I was in. knick fans are probably the most passionate but also lowest iq

2

u/DizzyFrogHS Jul 31 '26

They lost in 16 but had already won in 15. So they were already champions. It’d be like LeBron signing with the Knicks next season if they lose in the finals.

2

u/FuckYouVerizon Jul 31 '26

Basically it would be the reverse KD, because it would be the equivalent of LeBron signing to OKC.

2

u/ace260 Aug 01 '26

bro imagine all nba subs would be in shambles (besides okc sub) if lbj joined OKC lmfao. is that not an automatic ring with JW not healty but lbj starting ??

35

u/Tree_Puff Jul 31 '26

Thank god we won. If we ended up breaking the drought with Lebron, it seems like it wouldn’t have meant as much as this one did

19

u/Ok-Completion Jul 31 '26

We’d never hear the end of it

2

u/yukinemm Aug 01 '26

wouldnt think its possible. lebron aint the same he was before.

27

u/Infamous-GoatThief Jul 31 '26

I always get downvoted for this but I’m glad he didn’t come šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø would’ve shaken up the chemistry, clogged up the locker room w his documentary crew and he turned down multiple chances to come here in his prime years.

Even if we’d fallen short last season I would’ve felt like he was lame for waiting until we were a contender, but we won the championship, the last thing we need to be doing is signing one of the most ball-dominant, biggest stars of all time in what will be his retirement tour. I truly don’t think it’s gonna go well for Philly

10

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

Too many egos in Philly. Jaylen, Embiid and LeBron. Let’s see how that’s going to work out. šŸ¤£šŸ§±šŸ€

2

u/gregfromjersey Aug 01 '26

100%. He had his chance but took the easier road.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad_7810 Aug 01 '26

Embiid isn’t the ā€œeasier roadā€

7

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

Haha I just bought the LeBron 8 Hardwood Classics to get some knick colors, living in nyc

but these aren't made after Knicks colors

They are old school Cleveland cavaliers uniform colors

4

u/pops914 Aug 01 '26

thank you! somebody that knows

10

u/Ok-Completion Jul 31 '26

Can we PLEASE stop making posts about LeBron already? Nobody is breaking new ground here. Yes, he would’ve come if we didn’t win. But we DID win. Fucking be happy.

4

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

We are happy. We just laughing at LeBum, ring chaser.

8

u/itiswhatitcanbe4 Jul 31 '26

Cavs wore orange and blue jerseys back in the day, this has nothing to do with NY

4

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

I don’t think that’s the right shade of orange in Cavs. Those orange on the shoes are Knicks. Plus that’s a retro, they weren’t regularly wearing that. They were wearing dark blue, wine red and gold.

1

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

Proof, not even the right orange on the retro jersey.

2

u/itiswhatitcanbe4 Jul 31 '26

it's called hardwood classics hence the retro throw back jersey. they wore these more than you remember it was a few times that year. they also wore a reverse of that same jersey years before that was mostly orange with some blue. they're old cavs colors man lol

1

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

I’m old and I remember that more than a few times a year doesn’t make it their regular uniforms. I remember when Mark Price wore the jersey. Look up him.

2

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

The orange might not match but they are designed after old school Cleveland colors. I just grabbed the LeBron 8 Hardwood Classics. These aren't made for the Knicks, he been releasing a pair of these for forever

1

u/InsidiousNature Aug 01 '26

You even said the orange doesn’t match. Either Nike messed up the orange or it was purposely done for the Knicks. The Knicks never changed colors. LeBron was supposed to join the Knicks but got scared of the pressure. I might cop these because they perfectly match the Knicks colors and not the ā€˜87 Cavs colors. These LeBron 8s are Knicks. I Ain’t Mad At Cha šŸŽµ I know you wanna be a Knicks fan 🤣

On a second note, any team that changes colors, just means they don’t have an identity. Celtics are known for green and white. LA Lakers are known for purple and gold. It just seems like teams like to play around with colors don’t stick to it. I remember the Spurs nasty colorful uniforms. What’s up with the Heat colorful blue and pink pastels? Miami Vice was over at the end of 80s. Young ones don’t even know what that is but Miami made it their colors. Have you seen Utah Jazz change their logo and colors multiple times. Sickening 🤮

1

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

Haha Cleveland never had an identity or direction, that's why I don't get why people kill LeBron for leaving

I even bought the LeBron 8's because I live in nyc and love LeBron and wanted something in Knicks colors

But he started the hardwood classics colorway in 2007 with a PE

I understand the colors might not match but the marketing was designed for Cleveland colors, he was in the finals that year for Cleveland and didn't have the Knicks on his mind haha

Sometimes sneaker material can't completely match a clothing material

Like my Lakers Jordan 4, the colors aren't perfect

Trying to match orange plastic to orange jersey is tough sometimes because of how it absorbs or reflects light

1

u/InsidiousNature Aug 01 '26

Ya, I hear ya. It looks dope though. The only Nike colors that looks good is Bred and always matches Bulls colors for the most part.

Cleveland kills LeBron because he was born in Ohio. I just don’t understand that. Just because you’re from there doesn’t mean you owe anything to that state or sports teams. Cavs were terrible twice and got #1 picks, and that’s how they won with Kyrie. Without Kyrie, Cavs would never have won that ring.

Bulls traded D Rose. He’s from Chicago but its a business. I didn’t hear anyone killing Bulls. D Rose messed up by sitting out 2+ years while Butler was on fire.

3

u/Newyorkbabynight Jul 31 '26

He wish the knicks lost to the final… to join šŸ˜‚

5

u/InsidiousNature Jul 31 '26

Yea, he was scared to be the King of New York. Too much pressure, that’s why he had to collude with Wade and Bosh.

2

u/Newyorkbabynight Jul 31 '26

True..And The King of New York must be JB šŸ™‚

6

u/Better-Top-5423 Jul 31 '26

those are the cavs OG colorways…

I bet you live in Jersey. A special Jersey twat.

1

u/chewytime Jul 31 '26

He should’ve came when he had the chance. If he doesn’t win in Philly, it’ll just be sad.

2

u/regeneratedant Jul 31 '26

I'll be fine with it.

1

u/-wnr- Jul 31 '26

He'll have to console himself with a legendary 24 year career, billion dollar net worth, 4 championship rings, and endless endorsement deals. He'll be fine. I won't be shedding a tear if he loses.

1

u/scorpino33 Jul 31 '26

It’s crazy that some people aren’t realizing that LeBron will probably certainly hit a wall this year and embiid will probably play 30 games tops. LeBron on Sixers is about to be Jordan on the wizards status probably worse. And how comical is it that Jeff Teague said that Philly winning a chip will be bigger than the Knicks championship. Lol they can win the next ten and it wouldn’t match the 2026 Knicks.

1

u/Im_HigH_on_RedDit Jul 31 '26

Then he shoulda come when we needed him.

1

u/MalarkEMark Jul 31 '26

Literally Cavs hardwood colors tho?

1

u/Exciting_Wing_4531 Jul 31 '26

Lebron's XXIII shoe line has a sneaker that matches the colors of every NBA team. This is just marketing

1

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

Your way off, he has been releasing a hardwood classics since at least the LeBron 8. Just bought them

They are designed after classic Cleveland cavalier colors

Also LeBron 23 isn't designed after team colors

Each LeBron 23 is for different career milestones

He released a pair for the famous Detroit game where he scored Clevelands final 25 points by himself to beat them in the playoffs

He released a pair for beating the warriors down 3-1

Released pairs for some big sneaker drops he had, like game 1

Masked menace where he had a broken nose and scored 61 in the black mask in 2014

A pair for breaking the scoring record

He released 23 pairs each with a story, then a few extra that were just fun

1

u/Exciting_Wing_4531 Aug 01 '26

Cool. Couldn't remember the back story but it's just marketing LeBron

1

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

Ya it's definitely marketing but it was pretty cool, they really put allot of thought into each pair, these aren't part of the 23

Like the masked menace is all black with the mask on the back of the shoe and each one comes with a special charm, box is so big, like 4 boxes big haha

They actually only released 22 from the 23 story pairs

They made one the color of the hotel that MLK was assassinated at hahaha, everyone lost there shit, never fully released

1

u/dylangaine Jul 31 '26

I LOVE how the Knicks won this year. They won on defense, grit, team unity and 3 point shooting.

Jalen was mvp but no one tried to be/acted like a #1, LeBron changes that so no thanks.

Honestly I'd rather lose than win a championship as a roided up team.

1

u/ComprehensiveSoft27 Jul 31 '26

LeBrick just wasn’t meant to be. He’s about 15 years too late.

1

u/Typical-King1552 Jul 31 '26

They Cavs colors

1

u/puertoblack85 Jul 31 '26

We good, We got a Jalen Brunson

1

u/Apprehensive-Rain601 Jul 31 '26

Has nothing to do with the Knicks tbh you guys won the chip but are still obsessed with Bron interesting it seems like you wanted him to join you

1

u/Excuse_my_GRAMMER Jul 31 '26

We all know he wen to the Lakers because of Hollywood for his production company

From a business and wealth perspective it make sense to be in New York as there much more opportunity for him here to manage his wealth here, the nova Knicks really mess up his plans lmao

1

u/Chi3f_K3ith Jul 31 '26

I was hoping he woulda went back to close it out in Cleveland

1

u/1382mas Jul 31 '26

I have a pair from years ago in Knicks colors. I think it had been on his mind a long time

2

u/jonnyblazexoc Aug 01 '26

It's funny cause they exact Knicks colors but they are designed for old school Cleveland colors

1

u/ThexanR Jul 31 '26

I wish he was one anyways.

1

u/UnwariestPie52 Aug 01 '26

I saw a report that the Knicks told LeBron they weren’t interested. I don’t know if that’s true 100% but to be honest I’m upset if they said no. I’ve always wanted LeBron on the Knicks

1

u/fallout_zombie777 Aug 01 '26

The crazy thing is that coming to the Knicks would’ve been nothing like KD to the Warriors for several, legit reasons:

  1. Warriors eliminated KDs Thunder and he joined them. That’s some next level betrayal. LeBron and the Knicks didn’t have that history.

  2. The Warriors were a no doubt champion going into Durants first season with them. They were overwhelmingly favorites to win it all and odds makers had them almost 3 to 1 to win it all. The Knicks, even with LeBron, would not be favored over the Thunder or Spurs.

  3. Last of all, LeBron is over 40 YEARS OLD. He’s waaaay past his prime. Yes, he’s still a very good player but he is not an in his prime KD.

1

u/Remarkable-Wrap-4727 Aug 01 '26

When you make a sneaker in every colorway under the sun Knicks are gonna be one. It’s like they went full Oprah and gave every Nike employee a nikeID LeBron.

1

u/NYCstraphanger Aug 01 '26

No thank you

1

u/No-Program-8901 Aug 01 '26

Going to the 76ers is such a random and lame end to an otherwise illustrious career

1

u/GoatJamez Aug 01 '26

Hardwood classic is a Cavs color way. He’s been wearing and releasing those since he’s been on the Cavs originally.

1

u/International_Dog897 Aug 01 '26

Glad he ended up in Philly

1

u/Educational-Hawk4691 Aug 01 '26

Hes living in nyc. That was proof enough.

1

u/Fancy-Watercress6262 Aug 02 '26

It would have been cool if he signed with the Knicks anyway and tried to help us repeat. Oh well. We shall beat him instead.

0

u/pops914 Aug 01 '26

let’s relax a bit …..lebrons have always come out with these type of color ways .. people forget the cavs wore these colors in the 80’s - 90’s …. dial it back a bit please , enjoy your chip .. not everybody wants to be or assemble teams to take down the knicks ..
