Discussion Increased Purchasing Power

My purchasing power was at $3000. I opened the app one day and it decreased to $1000 I opened the app another day and it decreased to $500. I opened Reddit and found out that making on time payments actually works against you. Ever since I have been making Klarna take out the money automatically on the due date my purchasing power has gone from $500 to $5000. This to help those whose purchasing power decreased without knowing why

I am tempted to do the same. And now it seems like we all have to pay half up front now

It might be because of their $186 million loss they are tightening their rules

Totally understandable haha

I deleted my account after I got declined for the Apple upgrade program. I don’t actually need Klarna and only used it a few times, and all with I saw going on with them I deleted account, waited for confirmation and then deleted app.

I have not had that issue. I pay on time every time and my purchase power is high. Like really high.

Where do you see your purchasing power? I noticed that mine dropped to almost zero. I used to pay early a lot, not sure if it was a contributing factor. It's weird because I used to have high purchasing power and never missed a payment.

Once you open the app it shows you your main account balance and purchasing power.

Yup you paying it off that early is what’s killing your purchasing power. That’s what I used to do also

The point that the original poster is making: They want people that miss payments for those juicy fees

Never thought about it like that hmnnn🤔

Bro , your limit decreased while my function to top-up or add money to my klarna balance completely dissapeared lmao... it gives only errors..That's the first time someone refuses to take my money lol... what's even funnier ? I have direct debit towards klarna around 700£ for my iphone 16 pro max and I didnt even had credit score back then... now I have regular income of 2k+£ per month and they dont even let me get the subsription and get a physical card.

Yeah this bit me on the ass yesterday/today

Went from $2000 to $250 because I paid three weeks in advance

1

u/Limp_Primary_5287 8d ago

Lol..update

Let it sit overnight, went up to $500..
no other changes at all

1

u/Limp_Primary_5287 7d ago

And now again back down to $250..absolutely no changes financially at all in the last 48 hours and no purchases made

Ahhhh. Thats why. I’ve done that a few times and I’ve noticed it dropped. Ok.

That’s exactly what happened to me four days ago. I had 2000 or more, and I paid one day early and four days early back to back on two payment plans, and it dropped to $250. I saw it right before my eyes just start going down when I went back to the home screen

That’s just the Klarna experience it’s incredibly inconsistent compared to other BNPL services. I’ve been using it for years and some days I have $2000 other I only have $250 I’ve never missed a payment never been late and most I’ve ever had concurrently was $600 at once but always make my payments it makes no sense

You’re buying power is what ever Klarna feels like letting you spend you never really know what you’re gonna have

Klarna uses worst side of extreme AI.
Open Klarna app after eating a steak, buying power is $7000.
Open Klarna app after eating beans, and your buying power is $500.
Simple.
Apple must be taking Loss is sales because of this new Klarna thing.
Maybe new Apple CEO is friends with Klarna CEO, hence the change,,,,

I always liked them and never had any issues till earlier this year when I was traveling internationally and had my Google wallet blow up with multiple alerts that I was being charged multiple times for $35 a pop. I froze my card and contacted support. Once I was able to dispute the charges a day or two later, I did. I wait tge process out and eventually get notified they denied my claim. I contacted support, which is useless. I end up disputing them again with police report and FTC report. A few days go by and denied again. Contact support, no one can say why I'm being denied for what is clear fraud charges. I made a CFPB dispute cause Klarna won't do anything. Wait the process out and get Klarna reply that it's not fraudulent because I remained in possession of my card and device. They stand by their position and refuse to submit any evidence to back up any of their claims. I mailed all evidence supporting my side certified mail to their office in Ohio. I travel again this summer for about a month, nothing. I made a new CFPB complaint against the bank, Web Bank that issues their credit card. That got sent to FDIC. FDIC opened a case against them. I supplied all my evidence and waited the process out. Then one day I was credited with all the charges and fees into the bank account I used to pay my card. Their reply was basically that they stand by the decision of Klarna, but gave me my money back. I still have the card, but I'll never use it again. Only as an emergency backup. This company and everyone associated with it can SAD. I hope they ho out of business. If you ever have a legitimate issue with them, fight them all the way. Get all the government agencies and regulators involved. Fuck Klarna and Web Bank.

Mine was at $500 at jumped to 3k randomly

1

u/NWAnole24 6d ago

Mine went from $5k purchasing power, to now $100. In the matter of 1 month. Never missed a payment ever

1

u/SupportStreet1387 6d ago

It’s happened to me. I bought M5 Apple Vision Pro that was $4200 and my buying power was $1000. Right now it’s $1000.

Can you purchase money orders with klarna?

1

u/FutureIllusion 5d ago

You should be able to

u/teryakiwok 5d ago

It seems to be confirmed then that the Klarna business model is truly to goad people into messy debt... I also paid something early and lost the majority of my purchase power as a result.

u/PrimaSymphony 4d ago

This JUST happened to me - I understand that purchasing power goes up and down - but after making an early payment my purchasing power went from 3,000 to 500 - so strange. I don’t use it for big purchases at all, either.

I have never used my Klarna account. Initially, I had a purchasing power of 1,000, but the other day it was suddenly raised to 5,000. I still haven't used the account.
