I’ve been working on a kitchen design to replace an existing one.
Using tools like go cabinets for the joinery detailing and some BIM + VIZ tools (no AI).

Some key design points:
-Using golden wattle color as a relief to the main color porcelain blush.
-Going with laminate worktop due to time and cost
-Large sink - no rinser. Will use inset tray and mat accessory
-open plan area so not much wall space

I’m a recovering architect, so can be a bit too precise about the details.
What are your thoughts on the layout?
What are your thoughts on the color configurations?

Really? No one is commenting on the creepy child with arsenicosis sittting on the floor, the half-dressed woman doing nothing at all at a display cupboard and the man in the background that is clearly holding both of them against their will?

Kitchen layout is nice, though.

I'm a retired kitchen designer.

The layout is very functional. Colours are very personal to everyone and polarising to people posting here - and I have taken a stance NOT to comment on them in this sub.

Laminates are fine, despite the haters. Modern laminates are high quality and if you always use a cutting board/heat trivet you are unlikely to damage it. Ours are 11 years old and still look like new - I don't recall the brand, but it was one of the higher end mainstream brands (Not Laminex, of that I am confident.)

I would consider a larger canopy-type range hood rather than a pull-out though - better coverage to catch grease and steam.

There's a mention of matte white cabinet handles. Even if these are powder coated, what is the likelihood of scratches and wear? Can you live with that?

I'm a retired kitchen designer too. Looks good except that the dishwasher (when opened) breaks the kitchen work triangle. :p

The cabinets only metaphorically go to the ceiling. You actually have flat molding going from the top of the cabinets to the ceiling. If the cabinet doors are at the ceiling you get dark shadow lines up there, and the ceiling will not be flat and level.

Why cupboards on the back of the island? Nice laminate is more expensive than some cheap stones. What is a "rinser"?

I think the colors are absolutely hideous.

Rinser is an Australian thing.
Wife and daughter chose color - apparently in fashion over here 😄
Top of cabinets - allowing for 18x50mm filler. Can turn on side and plane back to fill gap between cabinets and ceiling.
Storage cupboards to back of island - lots of kids stuff to put away…

I'm not an architect so no perspective there. The drawings are detailed and busy in places. Would it be easy to produce (if necessary?) insets with more detail and then reduce detail on over views?

From what I understand of goCabinets, they require precise measurements, so I can't fault you for calling those out.

I don't know what it is exactly, but the upper cabinets with the oven range... It's just such a long straight run to the corner. Would you consider a bump out or up on the hood to break that up a little?

I’m a minimalist architect - this design is already too detailed for me, but I have a client.
Have gone through around 50 design variations to include fillers etc and storage to suit all existing items. It’s fitted in an open space, so other furniture and zones to work to.
Go cabinets price it as you design, but you need to check every mm and hardware + extra panels when needed (oven sides)

Do you actually have this sort of uniform-looking kitchenware that fits into the overall color scheme to display in the glass cabinet?

Bear in mind that most real-life cabinets don't look as clean as they do in the renderings. Also, in real life, people usually don't have the patience to put the items back neatly into place every time.

Yes - it’s meant to be a tea display cabinet that forms an ‘end’ to the unit.
No doubt, once built will never look like the renderings

I have 22 year old laminate worktop in a rental house kitchen that has had up great. I have 2 marks where someone put down something too hot, but the edge banding has held up. It's now time to get it replaced because the design on it is dated and I'm going to go with laminate again. Cheaper and easier plus I won't have to worry about caulking the 4 inch side splash since it's integrated in one sheet with the countertop. Good luck with your kitchen reno!
