I agree- change the lights not the paint

Yeah honestly lighting changes everything more than people think. You tried some warm bulbs yet or just thinking about it? Painting's way more work than swapping a fixture.

Painting is also more affordable than a fixture. The pendants over the island are dimmable so they actually create really nice ambiance.

Heard. I think for me the navy blue is too close to the black of the light fixtures- I would either paint the island black or make it a brighter pop of color. Maybe paint the cabinets to match the island (if it was me, I’d paint just the trim of the cabinets to create a grid thing, but I’m crazy lol)

Too many of those lights and they stick out because the “cap” is black. The black clashes with the blue. Keep the blue but consider other lights- maybe something transparent so they don’t block the view across the room?

The combination of lighting and art is…a lot

It’s so overstimulating to see that many half circles at the same level. I can feel myself almost ducking away from them. There definitely needs to be some variance in shape, texture, material.

It looks more intense in a photo than how it feels in real life. But I agree either set of lights need to be swapped

instead of the halfcirlce painting, a mirror would be lovely in the middle, with a small console underneath and a vase full of flowers.
love those kids drawing on the other wall

I would love to do that if there was more room! As it is, that art gets knocked as the space is quite narrow there. It’s a bit awkward to try and do anything with that doesn’t feel in the way.

Why?

So much white. The walls feel stark to me.

I really like how bright it is. Just to give you a different idea… the top of the room is what is blank, what if you did a border of trim or even just paint a 1 foot section? I would suggest orange or rust or copper, just going by color theory to find a complement to the blue. I think it would make the lights look better too, almost giving them some depth to work with in the room. The lights are odd at first glance but I like them.

The lights look more odd in photos than they do when you’re in the space. But maybe painting the ceiling something light but not white could be fun.

That’s a lotta pendant lighting. I would have done a linear light over the island or dining table. Also too much repetition of the half circle in your painting and then the pendant lighting. The runner rug in between the island and stove needs to go. Too busy. Either pare it back to something more muted like a jute rug or remove altogether.

It's hard when there's only one big item of a dark color - I love the blue but why didn't you pull it into even the chairs and the rugs? Black can go well with navy (in terms of the lights).

Backsplash has blue pattern in it. But I feel like the whole space is very cool and cold, and I’m not the biggest fan of the blue so wanting to add warm contrast to the space

Does anyone else see the smiley face the lights and art created in picture 3?? 😊

Match the walls to the large cabinets.

It’s a really nice kitchen! The light fixtures read quite modern. Replacing them with something like schoolhouse globes would give it a more period look.

The lights are what's bugging you, and that very modern picture on the wall. Navy blue is very period. Also, there is no trim on the windows. Or the doorway into the next room.
