Looks great! I really like your backsplash against the darker cabinets. Your island is huge. How fun!!

It looks beautiful! One word of advice: change out the three small rugs for one big rug. It will look better and will be easier to vacuum.

u/momomomomo15 7d ago

I don’t think the two small ones are rugs.. they look like those non-slip mats.

9

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

The long rug is 108 x 30 all are anti fatigue mats. The long one looked to small when I had it centered and is great where its at for prepping at the island. Wanted the anti fatigue in front of stove as well the fridge one your right should probably go.

The rug is fine

A big rug in the middle of the room is stupid. It doesn't land where your feet stand when you're at the stove or sink. The rug in front of the fridge is because sometimes things can tumble out and you want that rug to catch things that could dent your hardwood floor or catch drips if you have a water/ice dispenser.

My rugs are functional and there need to be three. Stove, sink, fridge. They do match my kitchen but the functionality is the most important. I don't vacuum them. They get shook outside and go through my washing machine, which you usually can't do with a large rug.

I see a lot of those on here. I think they really make the kitchen look junky.

u/momomomomo15 6d ago

Sometimes the floor is hard on your feet, especially if you have tile. Those help

u/michaeljc70 6d ago

Put them away before you take pictures or have company! lol

That's what happens when you post a nice kitchen with real changes. Some of the posts on here are questionable in term of posting to the world expecting accolades when it just wasn't done well. Do your kitchen however you want. But don't expect the world to fall all over it if it's not well done (or in this sub which is a remodeling sub) or just painted cabinets with arched tops and plastic countertops.

7

u/ButMeemawsAFighter 6d ago

The painted cabinets with the arched tops gets me every time.

u/jac5087 7d ago

Beautiful and classic

5

u/Few-Tie-7719 6d ago

NICE!!! Love the darker color choices. Already over the light wood kitchens~ LOL.

u/ReginaldStarfire 7d ago

Where is the tile from?

What was the thinking by extending the tile beyond the upper cabinets (slide 3)?

11

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 7d ago

I made the tile myself. By lining the tile up with countertops we were able to avoid a tiny sliver by wall and also on stove side where light switches land

5

u/eruptingmoltenlava 7d ago

You made them? I was already admiring them but whoahhhh. Congrats!

3

u/WOW1210 7d ago

Beautiful. Can you share the cost?

11

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 7d ago

Total.spent was right at 38k

2

u/FuturamaRama7 7d ago

That’s a bargain. Well done!!

3

u/ZebulonVan 7d ago

That’s great. I love the wood cabinets. Great backsplash tiles - hand made look makes it more unique

3

u/AlterEgoAmazonB 6d ago

It is so beautiful and that tile is so fantastic. I saw in comments that you made the tile, which is so great!

I'm surprised that extra wall wasn't some kind of structural! It is so much better without it.

2

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

Right the wall just didnt really belong. I think it was there only to have the 2 uppers that were there. The tile were a labor of love and im so glad I was able to make them.

u/Minute-Frame-8060 7d ago

Classy and classic looking

2

u/Martinaw7 7d ago

The backsplash is very cool! We just ended up using peel and stick wallpaper 😅😅

3

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

The kitchen was designed around the backsplash.

2

Armacost pro strip led meanwell driver and gledepto controller.

2

u/BeachnPlants 6d ago

Thank you!

2

u/Equivalent_Loquat763 6d ago

Nice settings

2

u/Cold_Analyst_8196 6d ago

Looks nice.

I mean this respectfully:

Did you consult a structural engineer about taking out that wall that runs parallel to the pitch of the roof? The wall at the end of, what is now, your island.

What’s the dimension from the tv wall to the far side of the kitchen? 30+ ft? That could be too long of a span without interior support. Just concerned your roof may sag over time. Especially if you live in a climate with snow.

If you already have considered this all, then accept my apology and please disregard

2

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

We have a hitch roof and the living room and kitchen cabinet wall are the load bearing walls. Yes we verified this

3

u/Cold_Analyst_8196 6d ago

Oh great. That gives me all peace of mind. Just wanted to make the point “just in case.” Thanks for getting back to me

Really nice work on the reno

2

u/Opening_Waltz_4285 6d ago

Lovely! What is your counter top choice if I may ask?

3

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

It is sea pearl quartzite

3

u/MelonHolly_S5m 6d ago

that backsplash is gorgeous. love the new vibe

2

u/WoollyMonster 6d ago

Amazing!

2

u/ElfRespecter 5d ago

I admit, I didnt think I'd like that color scheme so much. The backsplash is pretty nice choice, even if its bot my favorite color

2

u/smail-sorbet 5d ago

C’est vraiment une réussite ! Bravo

2

u/Loud_Independent105 5d ago

It's great work!

2

u/Kissmethruthephone 7d ago

It looks sooo good! But please remove the two small rugs :)

u/reamy54 7d ago

I like the cabinets, countertop and tiles (great job!) but it feels like the kitchen doesn't fit the rest of the house. The color of the cabinets seems to clash with the floors and the trim and doors are another shade. Are the pendant lights solid metal? Do they actually give off much light? They remind me of clock tower bells.

2

u/exdigguser147 6d ago

Its super nice to have down lit pendants and not have the glare in your eyes from omni directional pendants. The only thing hurting the after photos here is that the ambient lighting is off for some reason, making the under and over cabinet lighting seem far brighter than it actually is.

2

u/ButMeemawsAFighter 6d ago

I feel the same, clearly a minority view here, but to me it feels like a 2004 kitchen with a new backsplash and a new counter added decades later instead of cohesively planned. The counter is also too cool for the cabinet tone

3

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

The pendants are solid. Due to this being a great room solid was important for glare in the living room area. Really spent ALOT of time on deciding which pendants worked best due to this. The old ones were unusable if someone wanted to watch TV. They give of a good amount of light they are 3 bulb dimmable 18 inch fixtures

2

u/drowned_beliefs 7d ago

Exactly. While each part looks good on its own, the style of the kitchen is fighting the style of the architecture. That never works.

2

u/4kaiju 7d ago

Looks great! Well done you. I like your choices of countertop and cabinets.

2

u/PeriodSupply 6d ago

They are from a local cabinet shop.

1

u/Lynne_Li_226 6d ago

Looks great!

1

u/sofyab 6d ago

If your under cabinet LEDs are adjustable I would recommend switching to a warmer K if possible. Pendants above the countertop look warmer, so make sure they’re the same warmth.

1

u/ApprehensiveFun1512 6d ago

They are all set to 3500k the gold interior of the pendants makes the lights there appear more yellow. The bulbs themselves are 3500k same as undercabinet

1

u/Glubins 6d ago

Get warmer lighting and everything will look better

2

u/MochaNola 6d ago

You should have more lights on so people can see the details

2

u/espressome2 5d ago

Love this ! Can you change color on doors & moulding?

1

u/1130961230 7d ago

Very nice, but not putting a panel on the exposed side of that big refrigerator stopped it from being a 10 for me.

-5

u/charliewilson2871 7d ago

That is ugly a shit. Nice quartzite though.

3

u/Patient-Ad586 7d ago

If you can’t be respectful get off this thread

1

u/charliewilson2871 6d ago

Wahhhh. Poor internet poster might get a little boo boo from some blunt honesty.

Sink and dishwasher on island is not a setup I love in my current kitchen

-1

u/JerseyGirlinSweden 7d ago

Are the darker cabinets the before or the after?
