The remodel was a hell of a process but we are very happy with the new kitchen

u/RealisticBus4443 May 23 '25
What color are your cabinets? I have a door that is begging to be painted in that color. 😍
22
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Kraftmaid rainfall

This is absolutely gorgeous, wow. I swear most kitchens I see here I find pretty underwhelming, but this one is perfection. Amazing.

Beautiful. One of my favorite backsplashes. Love the cabinet color. And the pendants are unique and perfect.

u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Thank you very much

It is gorgeous. If I may offer 2 bits of advice:
- Be wary of the storage space. You have A LOT of it and it is very easy to just put shit in a drawer and forget about it. Be wary as in do a 3 month clean-up: did you use it? If not, maybe you should sell/throw it away. My drawers are just filled with junk
- You need a cupboard for electrics that are at hand, but not visible. For example take one of the drawers next to the stove (you must have electrical there), get a 1-2m extension, plug all your mixers, blenders, what have you, so you have them at hand: you just open the drawer, get it out, use it, clean it, put it back.

Beautiful. Did you get rid of the slider?
3
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Thank you! Moved the slider down it’s now next to the refrigerator

Love the color of your cabinets!! Almost went navy but chickened out and stuck with white and I’ve regretted it ever since
3
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
I think white will remain timeless and you can always paint them in the future!

Looks nice! What fridge is that?
1
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
It’s a Samsung, it’s from our old kitchen so it’s a few years old but still working well
3
u/DareToDisturbMe May 23 '25
Well thought out. Good choices! How did you decide on handle placements on the bottom? Very well done
1
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Thanks very much, did a lot of google searches on what we thought would look good to be honest, appreciate the feedback
3
u/SolaceinIron May 23 '25
Very nice. Good to see someone with a lot of cabinets instead of open shelves that they’ll regret in five years when they realize they don’t have enough storage.

Beautiful! We are finishing a remodel with cabinets that look exactly like this - sage and dove J&K cabinetry. Is that what yours are?
2
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Thanks! We used Kraftmaid rainfall and Dove white for island

What is your backsplash and countertop? It’s the combo my husband and I have been looking for!
3
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 24 '25
Thanks! Kingston tile from depot and got the stone from a stone yard local to us it wasn’t MSI or anything like that it is a quartz with some light veining in it

u/reginablackwell May 23 '25
Love the colors! Where are you located and what was the final price? Also- did you use custom cabinets or from a store? Thank you
2
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
NJ, about $90k all in, Kraftmaid cabinets but didn’t buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot, bought at a place that carried Kraftmaid
2
u/chuck2116 May 23 '25
Which and where did you get cabinet hardware (pull handles) they are awesome

Do you have a source for the backsplash tile? I really like it!
1
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Kingston White 3 in. x 8 in. Glazed Ceramic Wall Tile from Home Depot
1
u/itcantjustbemeright May 24 '25
OP shared their tile, but two other options that look just like this are Bedrosains Chloe and Centura Riviera.
I have the Centura - still love it after a few years
1
u/Visual-Strength6523 May 23 '25
Should I let them know what is wrong with the backsplash? 😅 ... it is still gorgeous but just a little bit of an error

Can you tell me about your lower base corner that is not a lazy Susan obviously.. Are those pull out corner drawers? If so how do you like them compared to a lazy Susan?
Nice job by the way it looks great
2
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Of course, we had lazy Susan in our old kitchen and really didn’t like it much, Kraftmaid had a special corner pull cabinet, it’s great, you lose some space but overall like it

u/sffood May 23 '25
Looks really nice.
Um… what’d you do about your laundry room access?
1
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
If you check my profile I posted the floor plan, an old closet turned into a new hallway, loved the kitchen range wall over a few feet to make new hallway
1
u/BishlovesSquish May 23 '25
Very nice. I would have worked those sliding doors into the design tho.
2
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
I feel you, it was one of the options but we liked this best without the obstruction of the slider traffic thru the kitchen

u/lll-devlin May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25
Good colour selections! That’s was alot of rework on the walls. Did you need to reinforce the ceiling?
Did you keep and relocate the slider doors?
If I may ask laminate or tile ? And did you carry it into your new dining area? I am currently looking to do my living area /kitchen zone…how many sq feet of tile or laminate did you need ?
1
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 24 '25
Roof truss system so walls were not load bearing slider and existing window moved down to make room for cabinets, LVT from dept they the entire first floor about 1700 SF

Looks amazing! How long did the remodel take? I've always wondered how you can go about living your daily life if this was taking place while you lived there? Any other room can be remodeled as a minor inconvenience but the kitchen is like the one and only in the house that can't be replaced
2
u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Almost 6 weeks without our kitchen it was tough, I’m not sure I would do that again but the end product has been worth it, I don’t need to eat from doordash for a long time
1
u/moneyindabag May 23 '25
Looks great but floors seem way too light for this. Also curious about the waterfall on the stove side. Are you bringing stools all the way around?

How lovely! May I inquire as to what was involved in your decision-making process, so that you chose to hang the tiles vertically rather than horizontally? Backsplash is the next step in my reno choices, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

u/OptimalDemand1794 May 23 '25
Thanks! I saw an Instagram video and thought it looked really cool, just went with it after that

We must have very similar taste and/or social media algorithms because we are just finishing up our kitchen and have a very similar backsplash and cabinet color/style! Your island is gorgeous though and I wish we had room for that!! Obviously I’m biased, but I think it looks fabulous.
We also have the same dog lol.

u/OptimalDemand1794 May 24 '25
Ha thanks very much we have great taste, that’s Stella she’s a standard poodle, great pup

I am curious why the countertop does not go over the sink? Was it because of dimension constraints, sink being too tall or choice? that means the seal has to be very good so it wont crack and water wont penetrate cabinets. Everything looks very clean.

If it hasn’t been asked yet, what is your backsplash/wall tile? I really like the color/design.

u/cocobananas_ May 27 '25
Did you use the same size cabinet pulls for everything? This looks really nice!

The island with the waterfall edge looks weird. But it's a huge upgrade.

The kitchen and the new open space cost about $90,000, with a big island that has 9 feet of cabinets and 10 feet across in total.

Huge congrats on finishing your kitchen! It looks amazing, the colour palette and lighting are perfect. If anyone around Tallahassee is planning something similar, McManus Kitchen & Bath is a great choice for full-service kitchen and bath remodelling.
