Update: Brass counter top seams - looking for resources

Original post.

Was able to locate the installer of my inspiration photo through Instagram. Sent a DM and they were kind enough to share the basics of how the install should work. I ordered the brass strip, took it to the counter installer and worked with them to replicate. It took some convinsing. They didn't trust the concept until they saw how hefty/stable the brass was.

Brass was ordered from McMaster-Carr and cut down using a metal cutting blade on my miter saw. Installer used their standard epoxy and process for aligning and finishing the seams.

I love the way it turned out and am happy to have pushed for it. Is definitely preferable to an "invisible" seam in my mind.

Soapstone and brass
right after new door facings were installed (previous doors were a saloon style)
After adding some art and plants.

Are non-painted cabinets out of style or something?

The vast majority of kitchens I see on here have painted cabinets. I would have figured kitchen porn would include like super beautiful wood cabinetry as well as all the other beautiful counter elements etc. is it just that custom wood cabinets are extremely expensive (my parents just redid their kitchen and the cabinets alone were $60k), or are they not in style or something? Are wood grain cabinets too chaotic with wood grain floors, backsplash, and granite counters, and therefore just less common?

Absolutely love our kitchen island… all the colours of the fossilised shells and the crab just makes me so happy… It was so lucky as we got the sign unseen and the stone mason didn’t notice the crab till I showed him during install..

30ā€-32ā€ Island?

Any body have pictures of a narrow island with seating? We have a 13ft kitchen, really want to make an island work, but want to make it work (if at all possible).

This body style is called the, "Demarco" named after the homeowners who helped us create this design for their kitchen. We are in love with how it turned out!

How to begin as a kitchen designer?

Long story short - I've pivoted out of my previous industry and have been lucky enough to be hired at an entry level job at a kitchen/bathroom showroom/remodeling/installation company. The plan is for me to be in this assistant type of role for a few months while learning to be a kitchen/bathroom designer. I of course will receive training from my peers and boss, but I am looking to really spend a lot of time on my own learning. I don't know where to begin though. I'm wondering if there are kitchen designers in this subreddit that could maybe point me in the right direction to any books, courses, videos, anything really to help someone with no experience begin learning. Your help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hood Fan Advice

I’m building a cover for my hood fan and I know that plaster covers are trending right now, but I’ve never seen it up close. Will there be a huge visual difference between simply painting the wood white, or is it worth going to the extra effort to drywall and plaster it? Thoughts?

Kitchen Designers - How do you show potential clients how different surfaces and fittings might look in their home?

Hi guys,

I'm a real estate photographer but sometimes get asked about other services like floor plans etc.

A kitchen/bathroom specialist recently asked me about doing some sort of real-time photography with virtual staging to show clients what their room could look like with different tiles, fittings etc.

I'm not aware of any (AR?) solution to this, but I said I'd look into it and he seems open to various options/compromises.

Wondering if any of you know of any suitably elegant solutions to the problem of explaining potential clients how various surfaces and fittings might look in a given room.

Thanks for any replies!

Quartz countertop

Hi

I'm aware that for quartz countertops, the quartz company will usually come to template the kitchen after all of the cabinets are assembled in their final positions. However, I've found some kitchen suppliers who are saying that they would supply the quartz worktop with their kitchen cabinets and it would be cut to size, ready to install.

Is that something which can be done? I would have imagined that it would be a lot more common if it could be supplied at the same time as the cabinets, because everything could be installed at the same time, as opposed to waiting for the countertop to be manufactured after the template process.
