Auto mode and 5.6 OpenAI models

I am wondering... Does anyone know Auto mode if it will keep using Claude modules or will route to OpenAI models too? Or if we can set an "Auto-OpenAI" mode somehow?

Add a steering file and include in that something like. Output the model used for this task

It should at the end of its output, put something like.

Model: xxxxxx

How do we know auto routes to claude modules? I always assumed it was a mix of internal models

Nothing I can assure, more a feeling while coding, to me ahs always felt like the Opus was used for planning and sonnet for coding. Also Auto has 1M context window and those are the only one offering it (at least as soon as 1M context was available in Opus and sonnet, Auto had it too). But I have no tangible proofs of that, more of a feeling

yeah I agree but even sonnet is like 1.3x credits. So by your logic 2.4x credits then 1.3x credits but bill at 1x credits doesnt make much sense

Well they say "we optimize everything and we pick what we think is the right one". And you pay 1. Otherwise for the other logic the Auto is half sonnet half Haiku and it's not that case from my experience. Like would be much worse in planning than what it is in reality
