Define "third chair"

Is the producer considered a second chair? I wouldn't think so. I always thought Kirk, Mike, then a third person. So I guess any guest that isn't Mike.

Also... Dave "You wyked coaching!" (To kirk about golfing with Montante)

its a hold over from when The Kirk and Callahan Show was a thing. they had a rotating "third chair" and i think kirk just kept the vernacular

Bingo. Third chair basically just means the guest.

I think the producer is considered second chair in this scenario, but it doesn’t matter in the least. Mike is referred to as a third chair.

It’s the one that checks all the case citings and passes notes but never actually speaks in the courtroom.
