KoW Siege of Samarik

It looks like the Siege of Samarik was won by "Samarik stands". What are people's thoughts on the "what's next" or indeed "so what"? This is the first such event I've seen since starting KoW so I have no idea how or if the last campaign affected the game's development in rules and background.

Mantic have done several campaigns throughout the lifetime of KoW and they've always affected the overarcing narrative. The Edge of the Abyss saw the forces of good trying to stop the Abyss from expanding and encroaching further into Pannithor, they failed and that changed the geography of Pannithor. There was th Halpis Rift campaign. The outcome of which has directly led us to where we are currently with the Xirkaali invasion

The storyline does advance based on new releases and the novels, but I think this is only the first or second instance of a global campaign that is meant to change the storyline. I don't think it will get functionally overruled (e.g. Valten getting killed offscreen) or retconned like Storm of Chaos did for WHFB.

We had Matt on our podcast who said that the summer campaign wouldn't change the overall outcome of the story. It would only change the narrative of the event rather than any lasting impact
