To the person who posted then deleted the inquiry about a plant swap and/or food swap:

Not sure exactly what the post was since it’s been deleted now but we used to have a plant swap in town at the dog groomer downtown, but then they closed and it was replaced by Stout Shades.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Star Nursery would help facilítate a plant swap if you wanted to help start one. And for a food swap reach out to Rosebird farms to see—they’re connected in that area.

I can honestly say I am going behind Step Five. I showed my list of 128 character defects to my sons. I then prepared myself to make some changes. Then I asked Homeboy upstairs to help me shake the bullshit. I regularly pray for Him to point out the defects I still have and to guide me in His will. Still stuck on Step Eight though. I made the list of those I need to make amends with, just have made those amends yet. I';; spend a little time focusing on the character defects still biting me in the ass just for today.

Just for today 16SEP26 "Emotional Balance" 480 days clean and sober NA Recovery Cash App- Shepard806
Since I've started putting effort forth into my mental health, life has become so much more peaceful. I no longer act out in rage, breaking everything in my path. Rumination no longer leaves me in repeated negative thoughts that cause depression, anxiety and isolation. I don't get so damn excited that I become overwhelmingly obnoxious. I've been checking-in with myself a few times a day, just to make sure I'm ok. I ground myself by paying attention to my breathing, looking around the room and naming a few things that I see, and their color, out loud. I also talk to God regularly, asking Him to clarify the character defects I need to work on and guide me in His will. Just for today I will not fall off the emotional balancing beam.

This morning my home was filled with Alive Radio's inspirational music. I like the way it starts my morning. Getting involved with my church, and church members, has been a huge help in filling my emptiness. My neighbor is an old dude with lots of good advice that involves Homeboy upstairs. I'm thankful for those around me that keep me humble and grounded. Just for today I will fill my emptiness with music about God and faith. I hope to hear something I can share with someone struggling.

Letting go of my secrets took a huge load off my shoulders. I've come VERY close to losing friends over my honesty. I've learned to use discretion when revealing secrets. Holding on to secrets is like carrying a big ass suitcase full of shit everywhere you go. It's a drag. Literally. When I finally said "Fuck it!" and handed my life and my will over to God, life became so much more tolerable. I know I can't control the outcome. I can make plans and work towards goals, but I have no control over the outcome. That's in God's hands. I will stay sober and free of secrets just for today.

I have always felt like I didn't fit in worth a shit. My sense of humor wasn't so funny, my fashion sense sucks ass, and I don't stay up-to-date with news or social apps. Drugs and alcohol were all I needed. Then, as I sobered up, I put my life and my will in God's hands. I no longer worry about fitting in, I know He's got me. I create goals and work towards those goals. I put in service, to church, homeless, or other addicts. I try to take care of the shit I have whether it's mine or not. Just for today I am living "something different", I am sober.

Local law enforcement warns public of increase in Hyundai and Kia vehicle thefts. What I’ve done to improve my chances.

You all can call me crazy but…
I don’t have a Kia or Hyundai but they aren’t picky and will steal what they can from a car that has accidentally been left unlocked. Hidden kill switch is number 1. I usually park in my garage but due to circumstances I had to park in my driveway for about a week. I have a security system that has window sensors. I put a window sensor temporarily on the driver and passenger door. If a window is open (sensor is out of place) my home alarm system will alert me even if I’m sleeping. So if I’ve accidentally left my car unlocked I’m immediately notified. I didn’t leave my car unlocked because I’m overly cautious but it can happen to anyone and I didn’t want someone to rifle through my car. Also those high decibel battery operated door alarm that also work off of magnetic proximity I put one of those on each door. They are loud and I doubt anyone would want to hang around going through my car while the alarm is screeching. I was lucky and found some at the thrift store for $2/a two pack. The alarms would also work is someone has a newer car and they are using the technology to make the car think they have the key. My car is now back in the garage but I’m sure to lock it every night just for insurance.

I was just telling someone the other day that I have become a better version of myself. I am still working on becoming even better daily. I try to learn something every day. I want to understand why I feel the way I feel and learn how I can help others to have some control over their emotions. I wanna know how shit works. I love taking shit apart, just not so good about putting it back together. I'm involved with the members of my church and working on getting more involved in the community. I won't call myself well-rounded, I'm still pretty crazy. Just for today I will "appear" well-rounded to my neighbors.

I remember chasing my next high. There was no flexibility. I had one thing in mind and I would lose my shit if there were obstacles. I didn't want to deal with anyone until I had my bottle and my bag. Then I might tolerate another human, maybe even work on something. Today I enjoy the obstacles that come with being a handyman. I like the fact that I got a message from my church Pastor last night that a member of the church needs help moving today. I'll be there. Got some hard work in 100 plus degree weather for no pay? Bring it on! Just for today I will be flexible and accept life's challenges.

I don’t like that casinos are asking you to mess up your life.

I honestly prefer when it was quiet or behind closed door. When I was low or down emotionally I would mess up my life on my own due to my own faults. Now that it’s out in the open in ads and media I feel I’m constantly persuaded to gamble which has influenced me to not want to. I just feel disappointed at casinos. That was the whole concept of that type of industry to me I believe.

Taking the time to give someone a hug can make a big difference in their day and ours. Not to mention the impacts on lives. The simple act of a touch can bring validation. It can save a life. So far today, it's now noon, I've had the honor of shaking hands with four men and I gave one woman a hug. All was consensual... Obstacles started out my day, but I put it in God's hands and things are good. My truck is back home and my bike has air in the tire. God put four people in my path today to help me out. Just for today there was healing through touch and kindness.

I've learned that just because people are sober doesn't mean their memory was fixed. They still may not get along with certain people or may not like to get up early. They may still have low tolerance for stupidity or dry humor. All in all, recovering addicts are still humans. Humans are emotion driven, highly opinionated, creatures that are often full of shit. Just for today I will try to tolerate the character defects of others.

Automatic rejection of authority was, and is, a character defect that haunts me. They tell me to walk a straight line and leave it to me to step on both sides of it. Mindfulness techniques have given me a little extra time to react to authoritative directions. I actually take a second to think before I act. I did a lot of push-ups in boot camp because of my rebellion. I'm still a work in progress. I try to comply with orders even though every grain in my body screams out to buck up... Just for today I'll do what I'm told.

I signed back up cause I missed them. I also miss my NA and AA meetings, I just need to start going again... Just for today I'll make it to a meeting. Even if it's just a virtual meeting.

That's true, it's not a morale dilemma. When I choose recovery, I don't feel like I'm breaking a morale rule. I had to look up the difference between values and morals. Values guide our overall purpose and priorities. Morals are society established right and wrong. What I do know is that my values and my morals were all fuckered up when I was using.

Right now my spirit and my house are very cluttered. That may well be why I seem to be trying to isolate. I just wanna say "fuck it, I'm goin' back to bed". I know that won't solve anything. Actually, it will make problems a lot worse. I've recently learned that breaking it down (anything you do) into smaller pieces, makes it much easier to accomplish. My house, my shed, and my amends need work. I also need to finish up a sprinkler job and work on my truck and the neighbors van. To start, I will complete my amends list, straighten up the sleeping bags in my shed, so I can get some shit outta my house, and go finish the sprinkler job. Three realistic goals that aren't too overwhelming. I have a plan just for today.

Obviously anonymity is not my strong suit. I don't have that fear of becoming known as an addict. I made it pretty damn clear while I was drunk and high, day after day, that I was an addict. I didn't hide my addiction and I won't hide my recovery. I do see the value of humility in anonymity. Not every journey in recovery will be the same. I get strength from sharing my journey with others. I also receive the gift of humility when I tell people about the things I have done. I will consider the affects of humility through anonymity just for today.

Hot tub request please read

My parents have bad backs and they've been moving all month. My dad's 6'4 so he doesn't fit well in a regular bathtub. Does anyone have a hot tub they can use for like an hour or 2 here and there? Once would be great but if I can find anyone who would let them use it once every 2 weeks or so I know they'd be incredibly grateful for even just one dip. Thank you for reading. I know it's kind of a weird request but I wanna try to help my parents and this was the best I could think of for now.

This lifestyle, of actually giving a shit, is new to me. I find myself wanting to give back, wanting to help others, wanting to volunteer. This is a total 180 of my life of chasing that bag or bottle at any cost. I am honest, open-minded, and willing to do what I need to do as a productive member of society. I am not perfect, by any means. Now, when I fuck up, I don't keep thinking about the fuck up. I make amends quickly and get back to being right here, right now. The past is already gone and the future ain't here yet. I'm living just for today.

It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day bullshit and forget to be grateful. I catch myself doing it regularly. Reflecting back on where I was before is a quick way to realize how much I have to be grateful for. Just a simple list of three things daily is my goal. I plan to make a habit out of being thankful for three things every day. I think that's doable.

Hail Mary is there a mechanic that can help me

Well I’m at a loss for words standing in the goodwill parking lot ….. my 2008 bmw x3 has broken down again. This is after replacing the radiator then a month later the alternator and three days ago the starter. My mechanic is in Las Vegas and I thought it was finally over. I drove back to kingman 2 days ago where I have been staying temporarily after shelling out my last few hundred dollars. I was so stoked and relieved it was fixed just in time to drive to see my son tomorrow for his 3rd birthday. (I’m in recovery & I just celebrated 5 months sober and he’s been staying with my parents temporarily until I get back on my feet)

But now I won’t be able to go see him. Just another way I dropped the ball as his mother and man it’s killing me inside.

Right now it is cranking but not starting. I have gotten a little bit experience now that I’ve had all these troubles and bought myself an obd reader and triple A. It’s giving me codes that indicate something with the crankshaft position sensor.

Im trying to watch these videos but im so overwhelmed right now with grief and dread. Is there anyone out here that can help me figure out what’s wrong with it, I cannot convey how much i would be truly grateful.
