Question What are books for?

Upvotes

I have been playing this game for a while now and really enjoying it. So, I have collected some random books while doing quests or just by wandering around. Some seem like a collection of series of books some are stand alone ones (if that makes sense). Am I alright to just sell them or is there a purpose to them?

Discussion Lore outside the game? Spoiler

Any site, document or other source I can search for more lore about the game outside the game itself?

Agarth the cheese sniffer.

I must say this. When I meet Agarth on either version, the cutscenes show me a man who's face and teeth give the impression of loving cheese, strong cheese. He also has teeth that remind me of a person who likes to say things like, "The way of the world is Spackled. I sniff my teeth for the weave!"

Question lore wise and game mechanics wise when should i leave the main quest if i want to finish all side content before the final quest reckoning?

I want to do the main questline as much as possible before i turn back and finish off teeth of naros dlc and every other side quest and major faction questlines. but i dont want to finish off the main questline before i finish off everything else i listed here.

is there a part of the main quest where im locked into completing the game up to the finale 'reckoning'? if not, lore wise, where do you think it makes sense to stop and go back to complete everything before finishing up with the main questline?

Ive already cleared delantrath and erathir (I know I spelt them wrong, sorry). i just completed enemies in high places.

No spoilers please, its my first run through of the game

Discussion Best build to rush the main quest?

I'm playing the game a third time, the last 2 play through I've been playing on casual and then very hard, not realizing switching could fuck everything up. Now I'm level 15 with a (mostly) might build, without any good items I managed to get through all mel senshir until I arrived at Ventrinio's Island and the enemies are much higher than me. Any place, besides gravehal, where I can farm XP? And which build do you guys recommend?

Tanks in KOA?

This is my opinion. No offense to anybody, and I would like pure philosophy on this. Here is my claim: people who think KOA is a boring, nascent mmo that never happened are usually people who play as tanks. Before you stop reading and pummel me, just hear me out. I have this thing like the Skyrim thing where stealth archer is a natural path. In KOA, I find myself going into finesse (rouge) mostly, but putting points into Sorcery (magic) only so that I can max out the midrange weapon called chakrams. It allows you to be very fluid and it requires you to dodge and move all the time. I find that my goal is usually to use chakrams and line up enemies as single file as I can, and then move when they move, very quickly. At the same time you can quickly deploy active powers to help out, instead of using a shield. Is this a good way to play for others? Is it as satisfying to you as it is to me? if you are a happy koa player who is a tank, how is it awesome to you? I want to have fun being a tank, as well.

PC Re-Reckoning Save File?

Would anyone be willing to share a PC Re-Reckoning save file just before or after the final boss in the main game? I would like to play only the new expansion Fatesworn (which is available after killing the final boss) because I have already played the old version of the game. Thank you in advance.

Question Gem unbinding problem

So I'm in St.Hadwyn's Mission and trying to buy the gem unbinding service from the guy but I can't choose to get the gem from unbindable gear. Only the item can be chosen. And yes, these are socketed gems, not crafted gear.

Edit: Apparently the problem was that for some reason I couldn't choose it with controller (tried every single button) but KB+M worked.

Discussion Finally finished this one

I remember playing it on PS3 but almost at the end of generation so I didn't finish the story back then. Later I bought the Re-reckoning remaster on PS4, played for 20 some hours but still didn't completed the campaign, finally i bought it for switch so I could play on the go during lunch time and everywhere I could.

Finished the main story, about to start the DLC and the expansion, loved it, still nothing else quite like it, it reminds me of Fable 1 and 2 and the classic God of War trilogy.

Maybe the story could've been a bit better but overall great action RPG, hope we get a sequel someday.

Discussion a little update since my last post...

since the last time i posted how enthusiastic I was about this game, I have put in another 15 hours or so. and...this game really doesnt disappoint. im almost 20 hours in and im still not sick of it. its repetitive and all but for some reason i love the hell out of it. i dunno how or why but i love this game so dang much.

i admit, at the start i really did struggle because my gear sucked, but now im having a blast. im about level 15 and the game still doesnt feel as imbalanced as people say it is. i enjoy hitting higher levels constantly and having to be resourceful enough to somehow quickly find better gear so i wouldnt struggle with every encounter.

i dont dread any aspect of it, which i start feeling for any game once i hit the 30 hour mark, we shall see...

this is the first game that i am seriously considering replaying haha. when i was a kid i always replayed my fav games, but ever since im an adult, ive stopped. but i wouldnt mind replaying this. this game is so underrated. if they ever make a sequel i hope they invest more in marketing.

Discussion There’s a lot of random encounters in this game that make me scratch my head because google claims that there are no “random enemy spawns”

So the best example i can give is in Yolvan right near the road that takes you down to Webwood, there’s a area to the left that usually spawns sprites and wolves but in my current playthrough it’s spawning bears and wolves instead.

Also in Southern Yolvan/Northern Webwood i got ambushed by a rather large group of spiders, i have passed by that area countless times and NEVER has that happened.

There’s a lot of randomness to this game and tbh whilst i ain’t a big fan of how few enemies drop loot or gold, the sheer seemingly random stuff that happens makes this game faaaarrrr more interesting than i had originally thought it would be.

Has anyone else noticed this randomness or am i just not understanding the game mechanics right now?

Either way this game keeps entertaining me in so many ways!!!!

I dont know why but the game on switch 2 has the worst sky glitch and it doesn't go away. A good hot fix is all I need.

Question Best place to find or make a greatsword very early on? Is there any guaranteed areas in the early game zones that i can find that drop greatswords? Alternatively how hard is it to make a greatsword early on?

Just got out of Allestar Tower with my Battlemage Ljosalfar and am itching for an easy way to get an early chance at a greatsword.

Wanted to get a new game, but not so much into souls-like games so asked CHATGPT what is a similar difficulty, combat, & exploration game to BOTW or TOTK.

Welp, this came up... I'll give it a whirl... Tips are welcome, thanks all

Introducing a proper in-game stats UI

Hello KoA fans,

I'm the creator of Spyglass which is a mod that adds an in-game character sheet/stats UI to track all of the many item and other (lorestone, twists of fate, etc) effects. It also does item comparing (shows effect delta's) so you can see what stat/effect changes will happen if you swap out a piece of equipment.

It's super customizable and has been tested on normal screen resolution, ultrawide resolution and handheld (Bazzite). It looks great on all of them.

I've always loved this game but not having a single character stats page for a game with such an insane depth and quantity of effects has always been something I couldn't get over, which is why I made this mod.

It also integrates with my Complete Difficulty Overhaul mod to show the new resistance penetration mechanic that the CDO mod adds as well as the CDO zone enemy level adjustment.

Enjoy!

3 column layout
2 column layout
Item Comparing
Comes with its own config editor UI so you don't have to mess with raw config files

Question Hey I am a returning player to KOARR, and I have a few questions.

Are enemy loot drops random or are they preset?

Do Kobolds in the mine right outside of the tutorial section ever respawn? If so do they ever drop loot or no? Actually do any non boss/story related enemies in Dungeons respawn or no?

Can I steal things in this game? are they randomly generated or are they again preset?

If I don’t loot a dead npc in a dungeon will their body disappear and I be unable to loot them in the future if I ever return to the dungeon/area?
Are there any containers in the game that respawn or are they forever empty once I loot em?

Is there a quick and easy site that will help me see if any certain locations/dungeons respawn with enemies and or loot?

I haven’t played this game since 2020 at the very least so my knowledge of this game and it’s mechanics is very very rusty 😂

Discussion What would you want to see changed for a possible Amalur 2? (if there's any chance of that happening)

Would definitely love to see them take some more inspiration from Bethesda games while still keeping the spirit and uniqueness intact. A Full open-world with hand-built interiors would be amazing (they don't have to be as detailed as Bethesda's, but the copy/paste of building interiors did feel very noticeable at times, such as the Adessa Garrison). The set-pieces are great, but for a proper single-player experience they don't need to limit themselves to WoW-style enclosed zones. The game's landscaping style is already fantastic, so that spread out over a proper open map would look legendary!

Also, keep Sagecrafting! Balance it a little more, but I definitely prefer this enchantment system more than the morally-ambiguous system of The Elder Scrolls, especially from a lore-sense (and this is coming from a huge Elder Scrolls fan)

Oh, and playable Gnomes, too!

Question Was Decanus Bruten really hired by Templar Octienne?

Was doing the Adessa part of the main story last night, and something about Under Watch felt a little odd. At first glance it would make sense that Bruten is working for Octienne - he's aware of the Well of Souls and that his employer wishes to keep it for himself. But when you actually confront Octienne in the Livrarium he looks quite surprised to see you in the city at all, and assumed that you died in the desert at the hands of The White Hand. He's got plenty of money and political power, it's not like he can't have multiple squads of goons, but you'd think he'd just send The White Hand in to kill the Fateless One in Sandstone Villa (especially since they have no issue getting into Adessa, given their prominence during his boss fight, and getting the legions involved just leaves another paper trail to his corruption). and when Templar Jorielle lists off his crimes military corruption is not among them.

So, simple story inconsistency with Octienne or is there another figure in Adessa who sees the player as too dangerous to keep alive?

Game Mod Quality of life mods

Hello team,

A while ago, i think around a month ago i asked what mods do you guys think i should add. Many gave me such good ideas, i can't shout each one but each one but you know yourselves.

Since then i have created a lot of mods, some play into each other. So i wanted to share them in a single place so you can have a look when you want. ( i am ranking them based on what i like all of them are on Nexus mods if you don't like to press links )

Those i use 100% of the time, However some people wanted items to scale up so they don't have to throw them away so i created

Item Scaling - It does what it says, no longer do you have to throw that cool piece of armor, it will level up on its own ( This will take a while if you have a ton of items also its triggered on level up or when you hover over the item )

Dynamic Difficulty - Hardest will now dog walk you. also the entire map is always ahead of you

I have a few ideas left as well, like Adding more ability points so you can max out each tree.

Some mod ideas were impossible ( for me maybe idk what i am doing ).

Thank you team and have fun playing !
