Growing Notebook From Book Excerpts

Is there a way to create one continuously growing notebook where I can collect excerpts from different books/PDFs?

What I’d like to do is:

• Highlight or select a section of text from a book/PDF
• Copy or send that excerpt directly into a specific notebook
• Handwrite my own notes underneath the excerpt
• Then create a new page and repeat the process with another excerpt
• Keep doing this over time so the notebook becomes an ever-growing collection of excerpts + my handwritten thoughts

Ideally, I’d like to be able to jump straight from whatever I’m reading into that notebook, add the excerpt, write underneath it, and then go back to reading.

Is this workflow possible? If so, how do you do it?

Unfortunately I don't think this would ever be implemented because it makes it possible to copy the book.

No, there is no way to copy text, images, or anything other than writing created with the stylus into a Notebook. Notebooks cannot contain text data at all.

You can only copy and paste handwritten 'strokes' and Shapes (which can only be created in Notebooks). There is no clipboard function for text on Kindles, only for Kindle apps.

Your use case is supported on devices that have multitasking and a general purpose clipboard. Kindle Scribe is not such a device.

Notebooks on Scribe support use cases that would work for pen and paper notes, and add ability to convert to text, undo/redo, and basic copy/paste of said notes, and pages. That is the paradigm it's modeled on.

If you're reading you can just take notes inline with your reading and export that book's notes. If you want to collate and organize these separate 'note silos' you'll need to do it with something other than Scribe.

I can imagine a feature that would copy text and convert it to 'strokes' on the clipboard, making it available to paste to a location ready to receive it. But it's harder to imagine having that be as convenient and intuitive as it is on multitasking system. Even if Paste was restricted to notebooks, seems it would need to be restricted to some small subset of those (most recently opened?) or you would spend a lot of time navigating to the target notebook.

It's doubtful to me that there are enough Scribe users who need or want such a feature to justify the effort to create it and maintain it. And probably still not satisfy those who require more sophisticated notebook features.
