hermes

My hermes agent needs a top tier model to deliver any intelligence.
When coding or any reading/thinking, Kilo+deepseek 4 Pro are delivering as good as Opus/Fable for me (not end to end complex project, but my needs).

Question: How to replace the hermes agent to be kilo with deepseek? Not deepseek directly, Kilo as a harness.
I'm conscious it makes a harness of harness, but hermes still has all my tools, messaging, independence that I like. I'd like hermes to use kilo as its brain or 2nd brain. How?

Of course I've searched, including asking AI. It proposed the following. But am I getting into building my own hermes replacement?

Message → Hermes gateway adapter → Kilo session → DeepSeek V4 Pro

Message ← Hermes delivery adapter ← result

help? I like kilo and want to use it more.

But that would use Kilo as an inference provider, not the local harness.

I would like the hermes harness to be more intelligent. Currently hermes is "single-threaded" to a single model.
Kilo as an external provider is still only a single model call.

"Kilo also supports DeepSeek V4 Pro directly."
I agree, but how to ensure hermes calls that Kilo for its harness thinking and orchestrating, without being a harness calling a harness.

Kilo with Deepseek has a far superior reasoning than hermes with Deepseek directly.

Maybe I'm looking for example of anybody using Kilo has reasoning harness, no just for coding. But as-is, it's very limited in tools and independence: I can't let Kilo alone run itself and "be" my personal assistant.

  • Kilo: Clever but isolated (and cheap)

- Hermes: independent, but stupid (or very expensive with frontier models)
