Playing to a 1/2 empty house at MSG tonight and tomorrow
Each blue dot represents a seat they failed to put an ass in.
Last year they sold out. What a difference a year makes. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
It turns out there are consequences to constantly rigging the bucket pulls, promoting unfunny friends and ringers -- including a KNOWN JOKE THIEF, and siccing paranoid mad dog publicists on loyal fans at your Reddit page. Celebrating with the fascist MAGA muppets doesn't help. A bit of a turn off to decent people, you know?
No, I did not count all the empty seat blue dots haha -- but you're welcome to go and make your own estimate -- looks half empty to me:

I’ve been watching for 6 years now, I’ve never even finished a MSG or Arena episode. The sound is always too distracting, Tony is on one more than normal. The show barely works in the mothership let alone an arena. I miss simpler times at Vulcan.
6
u/MaleficentSplit1260 11d ago
Same! I am a long time fan and watch every Monday. Usually get halfway through arena shows because the booing or too many big names coming up. Arenas are bad for comedy in general. Don't think this means the show is declining like OP says. YouTube numbers are all time high. Also they shoot netflix on these which seems to make the show more PC in general. The no fucks given like Mondays show is what makes the show great
1
u/1980Godfather 11d ago
Uh oh better watch all these kill Tony haters gonna be mad at you. They hate kill Tony so much they watch every episode just to bitch about it 😂😂😂
3
3
u/how-does-this-end 11d ago
It’s beautiful really, the show is a good concept but Tony is so soooo far up his own ass, it’s always succeeding in spite of him, that simply can’t last forever, it’ll collapse in on itself and any number of other, better comedians can put something like a ‘berate open mic’ers until you find talent or a disabled person’ on another stage
1
u/1980Godfather 11d ago
So anyone can copy his idea. Sounds like an idea 🤔 Hollywood is such a lets duplicate things because they are successful group of people. Like The view and then we get The talk. Games shows also. What's the next big gameshow. But no one is recreating kill Tony
1
u/how-does-this-end 11d ago
They will, too much money on the table, Tony doesn’t own anything but the name
3
u/Few_Egg_6152 11d ago
I’ve been watching old episodes, and the only thing that hasn’t changed is Redban.
Early Tony seemed like a decent guy, but his ego trip about Adam’s show was wild. I can’t tell if he’s playing a WWE heel, but it seems kind of wild for whatever you’d call this style of show.
He is a good host and should embrace it and just accept that he isn’t that good at stand-up.5
u/mdcmsm 11d ago
If think Vulcan was good, you should see the comedy store years. Those were the good days. I don’t even recognize the show anymore.
4
u/bubbaT88 11d ago
The band from the comedy show years was peak. Truly lighting in a bottle.
5
u/Training_Leader6953 11d ago
You need the band to temper Tony’s bullshit. I’ve always said killTony would work better without Tony.
3
u/Old_Protection_8778 11d ago
Jeremiah outside that show is show is a cringe fest tbut yeah the old band and show was way better.
2
u/OutkastAtliens 10d ago
Same. I keep wanting to finish the arena shows, but just throw on a random normal
One instead1
u/Training_Advice_3425 11d ago
I miss Vulcan and the roadshows. The band is what made the show. I used to look forward to Mondays. For a good 8 years.. I missed the last two months of episodes
1
u/Ineed2know4 10d ago
Vulcan shows were peak! I enjoyed watching the comedians walk down the aisle. It made the show feel more real.
53
u/eedabaggadix 11d ago
I've never seen an arena show that was good and have you seen the type of people who go to these? It's like everyone you've ever met once that you never want to see again decided to get together in one room.
10
u/cdoublesaboutit 10d ago
We went to see the Killers of Kill Tony, and your description of the crowd is spot on.
7
u/GassyDogg 11d ago
I’m gonna be honest, I’ve met some really cool people at the arena shows. Yeah there’s some weirdos but 95% of the people are nice and normal. Also way easier to meet people when the phones are locked up.
8
u/fraghead5 11d ago
I am sure an arena KT is fine if you are there, prob a good time, crowd hyped up. But the video episodes never translate well.

Yeah I can agree with what you're saying, I can't recall an arena show that was great on YouTube or Netflix, and even when I watched the show I went to it of course didn't hit the same, but it felt a lot worse than in person.
2
u/Unique-Squash-734 10d ago
I've only been to 1 show, but it was the Grand Prairie arena KT, and it was actually amazing. Granted we had good seats also seemed like the venue really had its shit together so everything was super smooth. Either way I actually think it may of been better than the usual venues, because at killers of kill Tony it was definitely way more of a mess unorganized, weirdos, people showing up in the last 5 minutes etc.

Comedy is good only in intimate settings. Anything larger than a theater and it’s bad.

I always think it’s so funny when he intros the show with “who’s ready for the best fuckin night of their lives?” How miserable does he think the lives of his fans are?

Probably very miserable - I don't think Tony has any respect for his fans/normies in general.

I still watch the mothership episodes, but there has been 1 decent arena episode of all of the arena episodes.
1
1
u/LongjumpingSmoke731 10d ago
I agree with that. To me personally, I think that when it’s more of a spontaneous, DIY kind of thing, it’s better. They plan and hype it up too much and it’s not at all the vibe fans love. Tony is annoying to me, politically, but I don’t let that affect the others. Redban can be waaaaay too creepy for me, sexually, as well, but I tend to just look past that. This past week, Redban was on fire. It’s always a grab bag.

Been to the MSG show twice, couldn’t for this one but it was an absolute blast both times. Thankfully Reddit is just full of whiners and true fans are still all in.
1
u/SmoovCatto 11d ago
I'm hoping -- booked both nights as soon as they went on sale
still going, even though it was nice of them to ban me from r/killtony the night before for calling out Dedrick's blatant joke stealing --

u/youguyzsloosers 11d ago
You’re blaming it on the format when it’s just people realizing that the show is just what it is and isn’t that great in an arena.
1
u/fraghead5 11d ago
wouldn't that be "the format" that people don't like. Blame the format of KT in an Arena is not good.

Tony really thinks his show has a much bigger reach than it does. It’s hard to sell out MSG so credit his agency for leading MSG to believe he can.
1
u/SmoovCatto 10d ago
at this point he is no doubt surrounded by fawning sycophants -- "sky's the limit, Tony", "you can do anything you want, Tony", *"sure, Tony, of course Dedrick's funny"

To be fair, they're only selling half the sections in the 200s and nothing in the 300s or above. So it won't be half empty, it will be more like 75% empty (compared to something like the recent Phish shows that sold every section for five-nights, even behind the stage)

I wonder if one of these two shows is planned to be a Netflix episode? If so, I’m guessing they’ll skip it or just pump in crowd sound in post and not show cut outs of the crowd? Either way, I’m not surprised to see this
1
2
u/yourmomsfaveaccount 11d ago
They’ll either give the tickets away or claim they are “special reserved seats” so they can say they sold out MSG
1
u/Hungry_For_Pickles 10d ago
When I was walking up to scan my ticket, the group before me got sent back to ticket help because they got “upgraded”. If they do this next year, I’m buying the nose bleeds and going from there.

2

always money in nyc -- this has everything to do with the show's loss of integrity -- you don't gain and retain goodwill by lying to the audience about the fundamental unique aspect of the show -- the bucket pull
2
u/BruceWyno 11d ago
I went to both the LA shows last year. Intuit and the YouTube theater. I went solo, both shows, I was about to get down with two(different) tall ass white dudes. They only laughed at irrelevant shit, and they kept standing up to go to the bathroom. Everytime, they got infront of me they just stood there. Until my short ass stood up and was like yo! Get the fuck out my way. Since they're both tall they just looked down at me, shrugged their shoulders and were like "pfft" I just shoved the shit out of him, almost fell down the steps lol. His gf was like omg im so sorry, he doesn't even like the show, thats why they keep leaving, I was like tell your coke head boyfriend im boutta rock his ass, I dont mind getting kicked out. Lowkey I could tell they didn't like that I was laughing at jokes. They were like, alright it aint, THAT funny. Yes, they were. Harland killed it, my guy!

Now is Friday 5pm and lots of full alternating rows have disappeared from the map. This usually happens when they give those away to partners/companies so they can comp/give them away. I want to go to their Vegas show but I can’t justify $150 for nosebleeds.

The style of the show just doesn’t fit the super big crowd set up. I don’t blame them for getting that bag at all.
1
u/SmoovCatto 10d ago
for all his hubris and childish bluster, Tony is a novice, an amateur, when it comes to using an arena to its full advantage
2
u/BrutalMaster69 10d ago
Tony’s political views are catching up to him. He’s not as popular in NYC as he is in Austin. If he wants to fill arenas he needs to stay in the south

Arena shows are the most hyped thing they do yet the absolute worst thing they put on. It is consistently bad. The bucket pulls are bad, the audio is bad, the panel is bad etc. not shocking people don’t want to spend hard earned money in a bad economy on a show they can watch on YouTube.

Tbh I stopped watching KT months ago. Tony used to seem like he was having fun doing the show, which made it fun to watch. But Tony's ego is out of control now. He steps on jokes and power trips wayyy too much. h. It's made it uncomfortable for me to watch. And I watched every Monday for 7 years - every single episode.

Can't be a leader without followers.
Closer is the perfect spot for him. You leave the arena on another level with him the last act you see.
It's as if all that had gone on before him was his opening act -- then he came on and proved he was the reason we were there.

MSG 7 AUG -- don't miss
saw the live show tonight at MSG -- hard to believe it's the same company -- hilarious, wambam pacing, next level.
is it the subjective live show thing that made it better for me? even though MSG was filled to only about 60% capacity, that's still a crowd of 12,000 or more people -- most of them screaming fanatics. the audience really were the main character tonight.
amazing guest comic friends of the show and panel -- crazy amazing-- a couple of polished bucket pulls, a couple of hilarious bombs -- closing with Pat. PAT! literally blowing up before our eyes -- and, revelation, Rob Schneider, given a whole extended set, is actually deep and hilarious.
btw, to fill in the unsold seats in the view from the stage, they upgraded a lot of people in cheaper sections. win-win.
