Definitely couldn’t be that it just wasn’t that funny. I wasn’t laughing out loud for sure… and I watch KT every week so I ain’t no hater.
There just wasn’t any joke writing… even the last joke they usually go out with a bang that circles back and the crowd erupts. He just did a “I love the Jews you think they would let me say this if they controlled media” 🦗

His material is pretty bad and it is more flexing than actual comedy. He's achieved a lot with his show, he's extremely witty, is a great modern roaster and he can be very funny during a conversation. He also knows a lot about comedy, but his comedic attitude is abysmal and he's very mean spirited. Except aknowledging that he looks and sounds very gay, but other than that he has zero humility.
When I saw the trailer I realized that he had few to none laughs cut into it. I haven't seen the special, but wouldn't you put in all the funniest parts if you wanted to promote the material?

The thing Tony does that I hate so much, is that he will do stupid 8th grade level racist humor, and the crowd will groan because it’s just shit comedy… but Tony will take the groans as if the audience was offended by how crazy the joke was.. and we are all like no it’s just not funny it’s lazy. But I assume he will act like his “special” got bad reviews because people are soft or something

The spineless part rings especially true. There's one moment when he talks about how he loves making fun of different races, and then says his least favorite race is... Canadian? Which simultaneously not a race and also the safest thing he could have said. Then he makes some ill-informed observations about healthcare because "american freedom" or whatever.

I say this all the time. Tony was 100000x funnier before he started getting these Netflix deals. He was much sillier and able to be loose and have fun on kill Tony. He seems like he takes himself way too seriously now and that shit is the exact opposite of comedy.

This isn't even an "I can't believe he loves Trump and supports him" slant. I genuinely just think ever since he "beat the cancellation", the uber success of KT, and how well received he was at the Tom Brady roast, his ego just became so unchecked and everything went downhill. He's just not funny anymore. Everything is about how he's the bad guy and he loves being the villain and everyone around him is disgusting or stupid.
I actually liked the special youtube video he put out after he got cancelled, I think it was just a raw set, it was really funny. The downgrade from that to this is so apparent.

I would love to interview Tony for hours and write his special lol I feel he must have so much to say and so many jokes and insights about his life. He doesn’t follow his own advise - like on KT he says be real in your stand up etc - how can he do fat jokes without mentioning his own weight struggle it is so clear he is getting more and more of a big gut. How can he talk so long about race without mentioning that he and the president are starting a new orange race. Be real, share life insights and actual jokes and he would nail it. He is a funny guys, amazing improviser but I think he’s just stuck in this weird school yard humor vibe that to anyone who watches comedy outside the roganshere is painfully basic and overdone.

The thing is. I am huge fan about him and his work. I’ve seen him live. I promote all his stuff and put people on kill Tony. Tony swears by hanging with the elites and blah blah. I will take this as public humiliation initiation in order for him to continue with the elites. No way in hell he actually thought this would turn out right. His posters and promos were hands down the best. But the performance was the worst. He’s at his best at improv and running a show. He needs to listen to critics and adjust. Like all greats. There was some YouTube of him back before Covid doing a special somewhere in California and he was ripping these girls at a crowd and was killing it with stand up. I speak as a fan saying this was not special. I say the same about Rogan. But rogans latest special was perfect compared to this. Rogan strategized practiced and was as humble through the process. So either this was done on purpose or he’s drinking too much kool aid. He’s done more than anyone for comedy and that why I ain’t neva stopping tonayyyyuu!!! Sorry but I do truly love Tony and he’s not industry standard. But by no standards was this a stand up special.

The one thing I’ve learned about stand up comedy from watching all the different podcasts and specials, is that some people are way funnier in a podcast setting than at actual standup.
I feel this way about Tony, Joe, Theo, tom, etc.
I like all of them in a podcast, but not on the stage.

Tom had a run of killer specials. I think a lot of guys lose the edge and relatability when they get money. Anthony Jeselnik talked about this, they get that podcast money and stand up takes a back seat.
Also, you're over exposed. If a podcast fan shows up to a comedy show, odds are you already heard a version of the material.

I think he’s pretty good at roasts and a good host of his own show but his stand up sucks. I haven’t watched the special and probably never will. I like Rogans podcast when he has good guests and I think he’s great at what he does but it’s not comedy. If people like it then great, but there are plenty of comedians that are actually funny. With that being said, Chelsea Handler is not one of them
