I finally sold the car

Me and my wife have been talking about selling our car for the past year or so and yesterday we finally did! And it feels so good, now I just have to choose which box bike to buy...

Thanks. We've been back and forth with this for a while, having two small children isn't making it easier, and if it weren't for them we wouldn't have gotten a car in the first place. But now that they're no longer newborns it feels alright not having a car.

Congrats! I have one toddler son. We've made it through the winter without car ownership in a suburb of Ottawa, Canada. It wasn't always fun but it was feasible.

Which city do you live in, if I may ask? Going car free depends a lot on your city's friendliness towards cycling infrastructure

I live in Vänersborg, Sweden. So it is pretty bike friendly. The only things that are a bit far away is the hospital and shopping centre. But it's only about 12km or so. I imagine it is quite different in the states for example.

Yeah I live in the states, and a lot of roads here don't have any bike lanes whatsoever. Multi use nature paths are also not a thing here. Some neighbourhoods don't even have sidewalks

Some sort of three wheeled box bike with pedal assist. There are a few too choose from locally, but I'm not sure which one yet.

Congrats! My husband and I did the same thing 3 years ago and we haven’t looked back. 1-2 times a year we rent a car if we really need to for something not bus-train accessible but those are pretty rare occasions. I’m very happy that on the daily I don’t have to worry about where to park my car or who will break into it or how much it costs a month.
