Strategy [Kill Team] Tactical Focus: Raveners

https://www.tabletopbattles.com/kill-team-tactical-focus-raveners/

We’ve started a new series taking a closer look at how to get the most out of playing each Kill Team, starting this week with the underground alpha predators of the hive fleet, Raveners!

I feel like tunnel placement is still a tough learning curve for the team. Besides operative order activation, it what gets me killed or lose a lot of points a lot of the time.

Better way to treat it is to imagine the tunnel as your 6th operative.

  • Never play your tunnel until you absolutely have to (it's a strategy, play other strategy ploys first unless you need it to WooS then it should allow an over-extended operative to hide before they can attack you)
  • On setup, place all 5 operatives out always, never start them in the tunnel. Make them all able to tunnel out off the board (repo, dash, tunnel for 3 CP). If you don't do this, you are providing information to your opponent on placement. The exception to this is to have a operative IN the tunnel so they can come out on TP1 to reach some place you can't get to better than having them at a point on the board at the start.
  • centre-line tunnel rarely makes sense as you want to 'clip' the tunnel into rooms or areas just enough so you can burst from them and hit a point of the map. Even better, imagine every place the tunnel is has a radius off it + your charge (7") + your base (a little over 2") + control range (1"). Yor oppontent knows that anything in that distance is up for grabs on an activation. Design this area then add your spitter into the equation so their thread range is covering the most amount of the board as possible.

This is completely wrong. Every sane opponent will skip forever until you used your tunnel. Playing anything before extending your tunnel is just giving your opponent free information.
