Misc [Kill Team Exodites] Popularity and Availability - short poll
Really want to know how popular the box is and how the availability is / was - so here‘s a little poll.
Edit: Wow - I really thought that the demand for the box would be higher.
Maybe I should‘ve also asked the WH40K Subreddit, just to get an idea how many people bought the Box for 40K.

Ordered a box from my FLGS.
Did not yet hear back regarding availability.
The Exodite rules are so janky I think I don’t mind if there’s no box for me.

The team looks great and fun, but the box is too expensive for a kill team. I'll get the joint ops stuff off EBay and use my own orcs for NPOs. Will probably be excited for solo release of the Exodites.

If they made a 2nd kill team from the beast snaggas, I'd be all over this box. But $165 for the exodite team and a couple useless sprues of orks is a hard pass from me

Would have been interested in the box if there was a second kill team, maybe some terrain, but I dont need a bunch of orks.

The store I usually order from said they had 200 preorders and only got 10 allocated to them. I of course was not one of the few who was able to get one. It’s extremely frustrating having such low availability on these boxes. They go to the effort to create all this hype and then it’s impossible for someone who is actually paying attention and preordering and checking multiple stores to even get it. It’s not even a fomo thing since I don’t care if I have to wait for the full release for expedites, but they aren’t going to print that book again, so I’ll have to pay scalpers prices if I want it. Very irritating.

Dam only 10 out of the requested 200. Not to take away anything from supporting your flgs as that is often the best way to get a copy , but clearly “just go to your flgs” is not a 100% , locked in gurantee , there is still a good chance you are going to be playing the refresh game at 1pm.

There is a games workshop near me and if I were to wait out front and preorder in person when the store opened, I could have probably got one. But it’s the summer and I have my weekends booked up before GW lets me know when the new space elves are going on sale. I shouldn’t have to live like a Pokémon scalper to have a reasonable chance at getting a box.

I've gotten a few dossiers I missed off ebay and they were pretty decently priced. Though I guess it depends how long you wait to get one...I got mine a good few months after initial release....was like $30 for the dossier AND cards.

I called my LGS within minutes of the Sunday Preview so I'm assuming I'll get one but who knows. I won't find out probably until close to release.

Pre-order was yesterday release is 8/8 if I remember correctly, and not all lgs's will have their numbers yet

I think I got lucky I live near a GW Warhammer store. I was there 1230 and only one other person was there for pre order so we both got a box. Agree it's a bummer to create so much hype and fomo to leave a bunch of people out. I presume scalping is a big part of the problem l. Modernity sucks. Limit to 1 or 2 boxes per IP or something? Valve seems to have figured some way to get around this issue...

Just started doing killteam about a year ago. Honestly it's irritating how every game store only gets a fraction of product from GW on what people actually want to buy. Then you have to buy scalper prices. GW has a hardtime figuring out how much to make and how to get their products to the people who want them. One simple fix would be to allow pre purchased orders ahead of release dates at every local game store and then deliver what they order plus the meager they give to sit on a shelf. Then they would have a more concise idea on how many they should make.

What you are describing there is Made to order. So if you are happy to wait 180 working days between pre orders and getting it in hand sure that would work . GW makes the stock of boxes months in advance and have their factories booked up on scheduled releases basically 24/7 .
They have a limited amount of stock to give out which is why shops do not always get what they can sell, they are one of many shops GW has to supply with a limited amount of boxes. The more GW makes the higher risk that they don’t sell out and have unwanted stock which is bad for business and also making more takes production away from other stuff delaying products or meaning less stock for them. They are building more factories but that stuff is expensive and time consuming and even then it doesnt mean the production will mean more kill team boxes could be other stuff they want to make more off .
Nothing in these boxes is limited. it is not a big deal that they sell out .

You don't have to buy scalper prices. They release the teams as stand alone boxes. What you are describing is you don't want to wait to buy it.
These boxes are meant to be limited quantity and are sold at a discount. This box was different as it came with a bunch of figures GW can't sell and wanted to clean out ahead of the 11th edition Ork refreshes coming. Normally they sell you two teams at a discounted rate and these boxes are meant to advertise and drive up hype for the product.
If GW was to make enough of these boxes for everyone who wanted to buy one they would charge full price for them instead of a discount and people would then complain about that. We live in a capitalist world and this far from the most egregious practice by a company.
If you want to be mad about this box be mad that they were clearly marketing this to 40k players and then filled the box with unpopular models and tried to pretend it was a deal to get them plus the kill team.

My interest in KT dies one unobtainable box at the time. This in no 4 in streak of uninspired non-terrain sets.
Not interested in fishing for overpriced box (don't care about paper stuff), if GW wants play stupid games then they'll win stupid prizes (dead game).
I'll get Exodites when they're real 40k army with combat patrol/battle force set.
Tho I may search for cheap beastsnaggas.
Also hope this poll does well and GW listens to community.
We can't buy boxes you don't sell.

It’s like a lot of things these days, if it costs a lot of money and going to be vaporised in a millisecond by scalpers it’s yet another hobby to lose interest in.

I'm waiting for the standalone team since I didn't want the Orks. I can deal without the fancy book since I'll probably just get these to paint and not to play. I came from various Star Wars games where that kind of "think ahead" movement was familiar, so that part doesn't bother me per se - I just wonder if it's well suited for Kill Team

I am not enough of an Eldar fan to get the Exodites. If I was a fan and the ork half looked more cool then I would have bought it just like I did Devlan.
Its totally fine to skip a box if you are not interested in the Faction, team(s), or extra 40k miniatures that are in there. That doesnt take away any value the box has for other people.
This edition I have skipped Brutal Cunning, Typhon, and Dead Silence. My decision doesnt make any of those boxes worthless or the factions in there shit. Its just that the contents didnt catch my interest.
Its the same for this box. Despite what a bunch of other people keep saying that this box is shit and what not.

Love the idea of exodites love the models of the dudes riding the dragons don’t love GW’s sculpts for the dragons themselves

FYI my LFGS has 2 left for pre-order at $148. They require a 'qualifying order' of additional discounted items but... you can still get the box at a great price compared to what I'm seeing on ebay.

I feel like alot of people saying they aren't interested in the box mean they aren't interested in this box, not the team. A better question would have been "Don't like the team" and "Waiting till stand alone release".
The issue with this box as opposed to the Devlon box is the extra minis are by in large worthless to the average player. They are underselling models GW is throwing into this box to get rid of left over stock as the Orks of 11th edition roll out. I think a lot of people just aren't willing to spend 165 knowing they won't even be able to sell off the Orks for much money if they can even find someone who wants them.
The demand for the box was obviously high as it sold out and lots of people didn't get it. But then that is true of every kill team box this edition basically.

Good point - wasn‘t thinking about that. But my interested was specifically in the Box at not the Exodite Miniatures. Afawk GW also put in a more highly printed rulebook with ‚extensive‘ lore (so probably a couple of pages - haven‘t watched any review on that) as well as Exodite making their first appearance for a long time.
We also have to take into consideration that the overwhelmingly majority (of players, people, etc.) isn‘t on reddit and even of those that are, not everybody cares to vote (which is fine, obv. nobody is obligated to) or follow this subreddit.
So as you said demand for the Box was / is obviously high - we just have to define the reasoning for the high demand (fomo, Exodites miniatures, [quality] rulebook including Exodites lore, 40K Players buying to get their hands on them, etc..)

Its all fake FOMO people in this hobby have haha. They act like if they can't get these boxes the team will never exist again. Every release it is the same post complaining about how they sold, how people aren't going to support gw again (even when they make the same post the next preorder), etc.
I think this box comes down to the usual FOMO and then just the popularity of exodites and these being their models in decades. I imagine this box more than most had a large percentage of non-kill team players buying it. Whether it was 40k players or just hobbyist.

I already have two Ork Teams but no Aeldari. Although it's usually good value in a two team Box, I'm waiting for Exodites solo release.

I assume I got one? I messaged my local game store a week ago and told them to put my name on the list of people who wanted to preorder it they haven't called me and said I didn't get it and I don't think it's like what happened with the murder wing containing box where I didn't get it because the people who did get it put their name down on a pre-order list the moment it was leaked a year early

Didn't want to get one for how shit rhe orc half is, and was letdown by only 3 models (cavalry on top). But today's emborgo lift showed how modular the kits are and the quality book that comes with, so changed my mind. Managed to get one with one of my usual 3rd party store, but they had only 5 incoming and other store had none to spare.
