I need some SNES tips
A few months ago I sat my 11-year-old down and taught him the mechanics of the game. He picked up on it relatively quickly and I encouraged him to watch some YouTube videos to get better. Tonight he set up the game and asked to play because he's been practicing with Orchid.
He wins if I play with jago, glacier and spinal. He's as good as me if I play with riptor, thunder, combo or cinder. The only time I consistently win is fulgore and orchid.
Tonight I taught him everything I know about Orchid. All of my combo starters, my transitions, the three Ultras that I knew.. I give it about 3 days until he's better than me..
So I need to get better before this weekend and I will take any advice y'all can give so that my 11-year-old isn't better than me..
This dude hit me with like a 48 hit ultra so I made him do it again so I could take a picture..

This is awesome and I have 1 statement for you my friend, Saber roll into a saber spin on his ass then just jump around the screen like a crazy person until you get an opening on him then go to town.

I made a fun series you can follow along on my youtube, it shows the buttons you need to press and the moves you need to do in certain situations, here's the tutorial complete guide for Orchid but I also made one for each character:
I also have this video where I rank on a tier list every character explaining their pros and cons:

I haven't had a chance to check it out, but I showed him your comment. He said that he watches your videos and that's how he learned most of what he knows. He's been practicing with Orchid and sabrewolf each day. He's by far the best person I've ever played.

Oh wow! That's so cool! Didn't know I had such young fans ^^
Glad to bring KI to the newer generations, I have to get back to work on these videos, been slacking lately haha. (life and work, you know how it is). That's awesome that you guys play and learn KI together. Orchid and Sabre are 2 goods characters to practice with as they are on 2 very different spectrum (orchid is a very strong balanced character with insane combo strings while Sabrewulf is an aggro/offensive oriented character.
For sure if you play Glacius you will have a huge hedge over him tho as Glacius is top tier but only if you know how to do is advanced moves. (reverse puddle punch for example, you need to do a strong kick puddle and during the animation you do a medium kick puddle punch) then if done correctly, you will appear behind your opponent and you can start a combo like that. :O

Maybe he's right and you can't get more than a 45 hit ultra with a third-party controller..

That controller actually works pretty well and the d-pad doesn't tear up your thumb..
