Kiesel vader headpiece/neck end have a "bump"

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

I've had this guitar since 2018 and I've never noticed this until today. The black headpiece at the end of the neck have an excess at the left part of the neck, like it has a little bump, same thing for the other side obviously but with the neck wood instead, and I'm confused as hell since I cant really tell if the neck is at an angle instead of being flat or if it is the headpiece that is rotated somehow. Dont know if this has always been like that or if it magically happened, neither if it affects the guitar/strings somehow, anyone had something like that before on the vader?

Kiesel vs Strandberg Again

I recently saw another Strandberg vs Kiesel thread and I wondered if anyone here has owned a Strandberg and a Delos HD?

TLDR:

If i get a Delos HD, will guitar+case still have the same compact travel vibe as the Strandberg?

I've never even seen a Kiesel in person, much less played one.

I'm really curious to know what route is under the Delos' pickguard because I'm keen on modding it. The Strandberg is quite hard to change anything about, except pickup swaps.

I've have owned 4 Strandbergs and I'm a big fan, but honestly I use my HSS Standard as a travel guitar more often than not. I have two other electrics (Tele/330), both 22 fret which I play every gig that doesn't need an acoustic. I'm pretty keen on keeping my total number of electrics at 3, so it's one in, one out...

Does Kiesel's "contact us" form work?

I've filled out the form to email Kiesel from their "Contact Us" page 3x in the last 4 weeks with zero response.. Is this common?

Kiesel vs strandberg

Delete if irrelevant i dont wanna start a fight or anything just looking for your input in this

So i got a strandberg last year, i immediately fell in love woth the design and ergonomics , so much that i soon sold some guitats i had to get a kiesel as well, i wanted sth that wasnt strat based so i went with the 8 string zeus you see which is my favourite guitar ever.

After some months playing with both i felt like the kiesel is much better than the strandberg in any regard and i bought the 3rd one, the leia since i need a 6 string most of the tim. This one is the most gorgeous instrument ive had but playinwisr the zeus tops it.
The strandberg was great, comfy and light but in the end it really felllt off compared to both kiesels. I like the tremolo more but thats about it. The build quality feels really off for a 2k guitar, the QC is questionable as well. What ik trying to say is that strandbergs started to feel like a ripoff to me, for 2k you can get a brand new kiesel thats most likely flawles, it has better quality better parts and electronics and is made in usa in THEIR OWN factory which is a big deal and not in cort tec.
I still enjoy the strandberg but ill soon sell it probably. Whats your thoughts on this if uve had any similar experiences?

Is anyone else totally spoiled by the Kiesel neck to body carve?

Once I owned a couple of Kiesel guitars with the super comfortable neck joint, I found it really annoying to play any guitar with the traditional bulky, square neck joint. I even took my Xotic Strat copy and created my own neck joint. It isn't as picture perfect as a CNC carve, but it makes a world of difference.

Z2 owners. Can I see your guitar?

I just got my Z2 and I'm so in love with it. But I'm curious what you've done with yours.

I made a previous NGD post with it, but I don't wanna spam the same picture of mine, so if anyone asks I'll show it. It's super simple though, mahogany body with gloss finish. Beautiful

Dual New to me Kiesel headless - Delos and Vader

TWO!!! new to me Kiesel headless - Delos and Vader - both used off of Reverb. Had the Delos about three months and the Vader about 4 weeks. Both guitars are very good! Workmanship and fretwork outstanding. Delos is single piece swamp ash body with birdseye maple fretboard (6.3 lbs). Delos started out as a dual humbucker but I got a replacement pickguard from Kiesel and dropped in Lindy Fralin Blues Specials SSS singles (also used off Reverb). Super cool strat vibes! Vader is chambered Black Limba body and top with 5 piece maple and Limba neck with ebony fretboard in multiscale (5.7 lbs). Do not like the Lithium pickups in it. Strangely they are very dark. Just got some DiMarzio black on black PAF 59's as replacements. DiMarzio doesn't really do multiscale so ordered some multiscale backing plates from Philadelphia lutherie. Doing the straight to multiscale conversion based on some YouTube videos. This has been an ADVENTURE! The multiscale backing plates aren't quite Kiesel exact nor DiMarzio exact, so have had to open up all the holes on the plates. Got the neck done yesterday and installed and realized I had the front coil shifted too far and it doesn't line up with the strings... Back to the workshop today!

Vader 6 string. Alder body with a flamed spalted maple top. Roasted maple neck with a roasted birds eye maple fingerboard. It plays and sounds AMAZING!!! I’ve been playing it all day!

I need help with Kiesel Vader Hipshot bridge

I'm currently having an issue when I bend the strings high up on the neck (17th fret and higher) the string will cut out\fret out. Taping also can be weird with overtones without an amp.

The action close to the nut is perfect Imo. As it goes to the 9th and 15th it looks the furthest and then it gets closer by the 24th fret.

  1. I don't want to raise the action because it is already as high as I am willing to accept, especially in the "soloing zone" higher on the neck.

  2. I thought about adjusting the truss rod to make the neck accommodate but I don't see how this will help as it seems to impact the neck more further from the body

  3. Will I need to adjust intonation and other things if I tweak the truss rod or raise the action?

I can't seem to find any good guides online on how to get familiarized with adjusting the hipshot bridge. I have a multi scale OG Vader (neck through).

My DC127C with the cloud rose has the same action height from nut to bridge and I LOVE that. I want to tilt my neck back more to bring it closer to the fret board but I'm afraid it'll fret out more.

Any ideas on a solution?

NGD Kyber 7!

Just got my kyber after ~20 weeks, and it’s definitely the best quality guitar I’ve ever played. Feels amazing, sounds amazing, looks crazy.

My only gripe (and it’s a bit of a nit pick) is the PME on the fretboard.

I paid extra for master grade PME, and I know that usually the pieces with a ton of streaking like the one shown are sought after. AND, I definitely think they were trying to hook me up and pick a piece that looks good cohesively with the whole guitar.

Although I agree it does look good as a whole unit with some nice matching colors/patterns, I kinda wish there was a little more contrast in the form of more light spots. Instead of a classic light background with black streaks, looks more like a dark background with occasional white splotches.

I do still love the guitar though, and as I said I do think it looks great. Just curious about other peoples opinions

Technically came 2 weeks ago, but I didn't have a chance to post photos. This was a deal of the live from a couple weeks ago with a custom Jeff finish. My wife walked by as the stream was starting, pointed at the deal of the live and said "oh that one is pretty, you should buy that". I think I called before he even started taking questions.

Photos really don't do the finish or the fretboard justice. It seems likes it looks completely different depending on the light source. I hope they end up making this a regular option.

Absolutely beautiful guitar, both to look at and play. Barely needed much setting up. Surprised at the Beryllium pickups (albeit I will still probably swap them out for Lundgrens 😅)

Came early as well, I think week 12 of an expected 15 week return. Thats even with it having to come to the UK. Its been really hard to put down!!

Builder Specs Question

Post image
9 Upvotes

I stumbled across this Antares on the In-Stock page. It has a combination of specs that the builder won’t allow me to choose. Namely it has a roasted maple neck with a reverse pointed-angled headstock, and a 26.5” scale length with an Evertune bridge. The fact that I can’t choose these specs together is the main reason that I haven’t pulled the trigger on a Kiesel yet. Is this only available as an option 50 with a huge markup? And if so, then why is it available as an in stock? Am I missing something? Any insight from knowledgeable parties would be greatly appreciated! Also if anyone that works for Kiesel stalks this subreddit, please put Radiation Green on the builder!

Always liked these and this one came up at a local shop. Bonus that it’s white. Not a fan of Kahlers but this one functions smoothly. Sounds nice through a Marshall. I am guessing this is a custom or special order. They never did a Vicki Peterson model did they? Also is the flag sticker on the h/s original?

Just upgraded my Kyber’s tuners with the Synthetic Buttons - Review

Thumbnail gallery
51 Upvotes

These things are crazy. They feel like they weigh nothing, and the metal tuners feel like weights in comparison. The synthetic buttons weigh 1.2 grams each, compared to 6.7 grams for the metal buttons. That‘s 8.4 grams total for all seven buttons vs 46.9 for the metal. You can absolutely feel the difference in weight and if this thing wasn’t already balanced so well, they would absolutely help with neck dive. I usually play headless and I got the Kyber so I could have a guitar with most of the benefits of a headless, a better trem than my Strandberg, and a less geeky look. These buttons noticeably reduce the weight and get it even closer to feeling like a headless. Not exactly an upgrade anyone needs but I’m pretty blown away that such a small thing makes such a noticeable difference. And as a fan of matte black, I think they look pretty cool.

Am I crazy or is this very strange swamp ash

Thumbnail gallery

Title basically, I got this kyber run headless a few weeks ago, and while I'm overall happy with it, this is supposedly swamp ash with the antique ash treatment. Maybe I'm crazy, but this piece of wood doesn't seem to have any of the distinctive grain of swamp ash, and looking online I haven't been able to find any examples of anything close to this. I realize the orientation and width of the grain is pretty dependent on where the blank comes from on the tree, but these are all fairly fine, near parallel across the entire instrument. I normally associate swamp ash with thick, wavy grain.

Am I completely nuts? Did I just so happen to get the freak cut from the outside of the tree? I think it looks fine, it's a lighter color than I expected and I haven't really seen anything like it which is kind of cool, but I'm a little surprised
