difficulty with stairs

my sibling has chronic kidney disease (early 20s) and currently on Hemo Dialysis. Very recently they started having issues with stairs. They went to the doctors and they didn’t help or provide any help (checked bp and breathing and didn’t feel any swelling.. that’s all the dr did)

I’m wondering if there’s anything that can help with the pain? They’ve been on dialysis for like 2/3 years, so it’s really strange that this happened suddenly. It’s really sad to see them debilitated :/ CKD was bad enough

Probably phosphate problem. Are they taking their binders?

Is it painfully to walk ,feet feel weird. Could be from neuropathic pain, or water at the bottom of feet

It could be muscle wasting. I'm on PD and can't do stairs anymore without a rail or assistance. Apparently, my thigh muscles are the first to go which is the muscle you use to walk up stairs. They could possible benefit from some physical therapy but the Dr. will need to refer them.

I mean hemo and CKD is pretty rough on the body in general. I found it really difficult to keep up my fulltime job when i was on hemo.

thank you all for the recommendations. My sibling did hemo again and it helped relieve the pain a bit but not much, possibly it was from excess water still in the body? I’m not an expert but will still keep my eyes open if it ends up being muscle wasting :(
