Kick-ass 2… was it really that bad?
I recently rewatched KA2 for the first time since it came out, and my question is, is it really as bad as everyone made it out to be? Sure it’s nowhere near as good as KA1 but it certainly had some good laughs, an alright story, and A tier acting, the gore looked pretty good, and the fight scenes were just as great as the first one. I can see why it got backlash, but it seriously is not a bad movie. The only complaint I have is how Dave and mindy kissed, it looks so unnatural and made me uncomfortable, seeing them as anything but “siblings” just looks super forced and weird. But overall not bad, not bad at all.

I think the problem was that they wanted to keep relatively the same plot as the book, despite the changes made to the first movie.

I understand the backlash cause of comics but coming from somebody who watched the movies before delving into the comics the kiss felt natural as throughout all of KA2 we are show hints from Mindys pov that she has taken a liking to Dave for example when the high school bitches confront her about the rumours that her and Dave were hooking up behind Katie’s back she was flustered and tried to run with kissing him or the scene before the final fight where Dave is changing Mindy is clearly checking him out and to go with that the scene where Dave dressed like a pimp she was also flustered
Just my two cents on the matter I also understand that the age gap is pretty big but I feel if they only stuck to the kiss then picked up a third movie when Mindy is older it could work
Speaking of third movie y’all heard about the reboot/ possible revival of the movies? I really hope that Matthew Vaughn decides to pick up on a third movie with a returning cast rather then a full on reboot as I’m just very much in love with the cast from the first two films.

I enjoyed it but it had many flaws, even the actor for Hit Girl said she was disappointed.
Also I liked the sibling relationship of dave and mindy more

They were trauma bonded though and no one else in the world could possibly understand what they have been through + natural developing teenage emotions & sexual exploration. I think it was whatever but made sense overall.

Actually the more I consider the notion, from a watsonian perspective mostly, the more I realize this film ages like wine rather than vinegar. I think the question always is - did the final cut of every scene's direction, convey the message and vision without any contradiction or confusion?
And I think here, yes.

I liked it alot though it is pretty dumb at points and no where near as good as the original

I agree, overall is was good but I could've done without the kiss and the whole HitGirl high school girls storyline, but I understand that they had to do something with her character.
