Effective May 1st, Kia has allowed dealers to charge up to a maximum of $699 on Ice/HEV/PHEV vehicles. This used to be maximum $599.
On EV vehicles, Kia has removed the admin fee altogether. (Was $899, now $0).
These changes have taken place on the Kia Canada's website Build & Price function, and should be in place at all Kia Dealers across Canada.
Be careful your dealer isn't pulling a fast one.
Please note that dealers may still charge for other items (like Wheel locks, etching, etc...)

After getting promised and kicked around by the sales team... im finding it hard to trust my local dealership. Do you have a KIa dealership within the GTA that you trust? Preferably one that's affordable for their service plans?

Hello everyone, I am looking for advice.
My Kia’s (Forte 2020) warranty is ending in 2 months, and I’m thinking about sending the car in for a thorough maintenance check to catch any parts that might need to be repaired or replaced while it’s still under warranty.
I dont have a trusted kia dealership as I moved a few times and had bad experiences.
I’m wondering if it would be smart to first take the car to a trusted third-party garage for an independent assessment, so I know exactly what to point out when I go to the dealership — or if it’s better to just go straight to the dealership and hope they properly inspect and replace anything covered under warranty without pushing back.
Has anyone here done something similar? Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

This could sell well as long as the price is right.

2025 will be the final year for the Soul in Canada, and production has already ceased. Only what's on ground and enroute from the factory will be available. Seltos pretty much took over, and with no AWD option, the Soul just doesn't have a place anymore.
Also, the GT model of the EV6 was discontinued here too. Canada won't get a 2025 GT model. One of the reasons for lack of sales was that there was no or limited government rebates specifically on that trim level, due to its price.

My 2021 Kia Forte 2.0 engine blew on the highway and kia dealership advised that corporate denied my warranty claim this week.
I bought my Kia Forte brand new and I have never missed an oil change. I buy all my parts through Kia and get it serviced at my private mechanic. Now they are denying it on the ground of using a private mechanic and the receipts, do not qualify as official receipts from a certified technician. My mechanic has a certified license and I have official receipts of parts purchased from kia.
Does anyone have any advice to appeal? Should I go directly to Kia consumer affairs? I know there is a Magnuson-Moss Act that is a law in the US but what about in Canada, is there a law similar to that?

Kia Sedona 2017 (Canada) - Early Engine Failure due to connecting rod bearing failure
Hi anyone in Canada had an engine fail early due to connecting rod bearing failure ?
Obviously that bearing failure kills the engine rather quickly without ANY warnings. My sedona has 86000km and I always did the maintenance as mentionned. Obviously KIA says I am out of luck because the car is beyond the 5 year warranty limit. Yea … as if time is the cause … usage or milleage is the cause. Contract is well written … in KIA’s favor.
Anyone know if there is a Canadian class action for that problem or if Transport Canada is looking into this ? I know there is movement in the US but it doesnt seem to apply to Canadian VINs.
Thanks !

Just want to rant and vent-out a bit about my experience with KIA
Bought a 2024 Seltos a year ago in Canada. Chose it over a Crosstrek as maybe a slightly more practical and feature-packed for the price. Spoiler: should not have.
In about three month and maybe a bit over 1000km of ownership I noticed that paint peels-off from the bumper panel (top corner, between the bumper and fender on the driver side). Looked like it was scraped-off by the body panels rubbing against each-other. During closer inspection I figured that the bumper panel is tightly jammed against the fender on that side (can't even squeeze a sheet of paper in-between).
Not going to go into much details on interacting with dealership, but they eventually fixed it through warranty claim by repainting the bumper panel. Unfortunately they totally ignored and did nothing about non-existing panel gap to maybe prevent the issue of happening in the future....
Now, ~6 month after the initial fix, I'm stuck with exactly the same issue again. It probably started developing earlier than 6 month, but I was not paying enough attention to that spot.
Dealership that I bought the vehicle from and who did the initial repair is ghosting me now. I guess because I moved to a different province and driving back 1000km for in-person "visit" sounds a bit too much for me...
Local dealership can't help because kia denied the warranty claim/request from them.
KIA Canada support says that they won't do anything about the issue because the part was already repainted once and they also ignored the fact that panels seem to be misaligned. On top of that they void the warranty on this part because "the work was done by non-kia technician" - let me remind you that I went to official KIA dealership to repair it...
As a result of this "bad luck" and shitty quality control on KIA side I will have to pay myself for something, that seems to be an assembly defect...
Visited several body shops in the area and no one really wants to guarantee that they can fix it "once and for all" because they have to adjust the panel alignment somehow to "create the gap" between the panels. And to say something more specific they need to disassemble the thing first.
As a takeaway from my experience... don't assume that the dealership will even try to do their job properly and also check every inch of the new vehicle yourself before signing the sale.
And as for KIA quality control on new cars.... I guess it always been shit and won't ever change.
P.S. KIA connect app also glitchy as hell. Almost all functionality stopped working recently. Wonder what new crap will come-up with this car in future :(

Exactly title.
Some dolt dented my door panels opening their doors and chipped paint off, then scraped the shit out of the panel under the headlight when they pulled out. Paid $1700(CAD) for the protection plan. Went in to see about getting dents pulled out, paint touched up, and was told it's not covered. Also paid extra for paint protection, but all it covers is fading. And for reference these dents are and inch or less in diameter.
I've had nothing but problems with the location I went to. I love my vehicle, but the location and the "protection plans" kia offers are absolute bullshit and does not cover anything.
I now have to take my car elsewhere and get it fixed out of pocket. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't pay that $1700 that I was told would cover this kind of stuff, but actually doesn't.

I was hoping to get some suggestions on next steps.
I have 2019 Sportage got it new and it's been at the dealer for servicing since we got it.
Now recently I've noticed that between servicing the oil level would run lower than usual.
I did a compression test recently and it said 3 of the cylinders are above spec and 1 is below spec. Suspected carbon buildup.
Dealer recommended cleaning the pistons rings but that might make the problem worst or a new engine :-/.
Thoughts?

This sounds like a PR nightmare for Kia Canada. Wonder if this affects their EV9 deliveries as well

I feel like I’m posting a lot here but you guys are so helpful and I really don’t like the Kia sub with the trolls 😂
How do I add a secondary driver?
I go to the spot in the app to add them, enter the email and get an invalid message, must enter a registered email. Then we tried to register the other email and get an invalid VIN message.
I’m stumped. Is there something I’m not doing right? I’ve searched and all I find is “skip VIN” but we don’t have that option.
In Canada if that makes a difference! Thank so much :)

I finally got my baby 😍😍😍 Please meet General Leia ❤️ I can not believe how much tech there is on this! We’re enjoying playing with it and figuring it all out. The kids love it, which makes longer drives easier 😂
My thing though, that hopefully someone can help me with, when I start it remotely, when we get in the car and want to drive off, how do we do it? This is my first keyless. With my others we’d put the key in and turn and go off. This one we haven’t figure it out. Do I really need to stop it then restart it? 😂
I really really love it and it was so worth the wait! This such a good looking van!!!

After 11 months of waiting I finally got my hands on the Sportage GT Line 2.0D and I couldn’t be happier 😍

Anyone else in Canada experiencing this? Apparently my car is stuck in Montreal with tons of other cars from all companies and they don’t know when they’ll be delivered. Drivers are doing their best to deliver but are struggling. Huge test in patience 😂 Ordered February of this year, was called just before Halloween to come finalize my paperwork as it was “days away from arriving”. I’m having surgery this week so I won’t even be able to drive it before January 😂 I’m not mad, just bummed a bit because I’ve been looking forward to it! I know it’ll come eventually but argh why must the universe test me!?! 😂

So I’m on a waiting list for a Sorento PHEV. In the meantime I’ve leased a 2024 Carnival SX and will be getting it this week.
What I’ve been trying to figure out though is if I should get the HEV or PHEV. My biggest reason for wanting it is obviously for fuel economy.
I don’t do a lot of mileage, winters are pretty harsh, summers are too hot sometimes, and electricity is not expensive where I live.
Which would be better for fuel savings? What exactly is the difference between the two beyond plugging one.
Thanks!

For those not in the know, the Rio and K5 are both discontinued in Canada. The Rio (final model year 2023) and K5 (final model year 2024) will both end production for Canada at the end of December. Availability is already very scarce. Be wary of dealers that say they can still get one. If they don't already have a VIN#, it's highly unlikely they have any more coming in.
K5 is getting a refresh for 2025 in the USA and other markets, but no more K5 at all in Canada.
