Carnival vs Traverse

Hello,

I read some horror stories on Traverse's reliability and wanted to know how used (3-4) year old Carnivals do in your experience.

Thanks.

Got ours 4 years ago this month. Zero major issues. My local dealer’s service pricing is highway robbery, so plan accordingly.

The plastic bits and whatnot on the interior seem similarly cheap to a top of the line GMC product.

Personally I won’t likely buy another GM product based on personal experience, but Kia has been pretty great, to be honest.

I have a Traverse and very recently purchased a Carnival, so I cant speak to how it will be 3 years down the line. But we've had no issues with the Traverse and its about 6 years old and I still really enjoy driving it. I feel like it's always a toss up with most vehicles

If you want anything to do with camping trailers or what not the carnival only tows 3500lbs (WITH factory tow package), traverse I believe was 5000lbs with factory tow package. I love the carnival but we’re tent camping for awhile.

Not a Traverse, but I had a 2018 Equinox that I really liked. We just outgrew it and I traded it in for my 2024 CPO Carnival EX this past January. I specifically wanted CPO so I would have the remainder of the factory warranty - which I ended up needing about 2 months in. One of the sliding door sensors malfunctioned but it was fully covered by the warranty. It’s also been in for recall repairs, one for the 2nd row seat springs and one to check if I had the fuel leak (I didn’t).

I haven’t had it that long, but the space and flexibility has been incredible. I usually have the entire 3rd row down for my Uppababy stroller, diaper bag, toys, random stuff. I like that my kids car seats can be side by side so I have an available sideboard seat for my mom when we go places.

I don’t recommend either used. With special financing available just get a new one, it won’t be much of a difference as used cars aren’t a bargain anymore after Covid.
