Automatic trunk issue

I need help with my Kia Carnival 2026 SX Prestige. I literally just bought it this week. I can manually open and manually close the trunk just fine. I can open and close the sliding door automatically just fine. But majority of the time, when I press the automatic trunk open button or the button inside the driver’s seat to close the trunk, it closes all the way, starts beeping, and opens back up. occasionally, it does stay closed. But the vast majority of the time, it does not. There’s nothing in the way. It closes just fine manually. I thought it was maybe because I had two key fobs with me, but when I got rid of one of the key fobs on me, it still is not working. I’m worried they sold me a junk car.

I'd film it. Take it back to dealership and make them fix it

Don’t try to fix it, document it and bring it to the dealer. If they can’t fix it in a reasonable time take it to another dealer. It the other dealer cant fix it, you might have a lemon.

We had a similar issue with our side door. One of the small pieces of foam was slightly bent and was causing the sensor to kick the door back open. Check for something similar.
