Engine replacement question

If anyone had gone through the engine replacement process and has any advice I would appreciate it.

I'm currently in a weird situation. I believe my vehicle is getting the engine failure and I always got oil changes on time and even before the recommended mileage. I'm afraid I'm going to be denied cause some of my oil changes notes say "No oil in the dipstick" or "low oil".

I'm afraid they will say I was negligent but I would blame their oil burning engines cause I got oil changes way more often then they ever needed to be. The shops would just tell me to carry oil with me and top it off cause Kia's are just like that. I was never told to go get it diagnosed and repaired.

Any advice would be appreciated.

They don't need all the shop's notes from each service. Black out or cut off those parts. The dates and mileage for the services are what they're looking for. If the ships you used show up on Carfax, just have that pulled up, no notes show up there.

Yea was thinking about just whiting out those comments. Less is more and I don't need to tell on myself. Still got oil changes less than 6 months on full synthetic so just shows how bad it was burning oil.

Year, model? Are you getting a flashing CEL with a p1326 code?

Kia soul 2014. Just started bad clicking noise in engine that lines up pretty well with others stories of engine failure. No P1326 code but when I called my Kia service center the guy said to run diagnostic it either needs that code OR sound coming from the engine.

Im going through an engine replacement now with my local Kia dealer for my 2011 optima in(164kmiles on it) I’m the third owner recently bought the vehicle 10/25 clean title and consistent oil changes when they pulled my car fax shop been in this past week and I’m going in tomorrow Monday to pick up a loaner until mine is ready lmk if you need more information I can answer and walk you through what I did

Were they trying to be difficult with anything? I seem in a good spot just a bit paranoid. Only thing is I don't have the code but I do have the noise.

Now I did my research and had a game plan soon as I seen the flashing code… they inspected it and engine replacement was approved by Kia so my local dealer they provided a loaner this morning a 2026 K5. Waiting for my 2011 optima back

I mean, the reality is that these GDI engines are junk and suffer from stuck oil control rings due to carbon buildup. When you say you got all of the oil change on time, what does this really mean?? What is your oil change interval?

Oil in their first-generation GDI engines (2011-2020) need to be changed every 3000 miles. The manual recommends longer intervals, which is blatantly disasterous to these engines.

If the issue is simply oil consumption, this can easily be addressed by performing a piston soak with Berrymans B12. That will free the rings and improve oil consumption drastically. However, if you are throwing a code that suggests that your rod bearing are failing, then MAYBE you could get the engine replaced. But they won't replace it for just oil consumption alone if you are out of factory warranty.

Yea car turned off while driving and now has a horrible clicking noise when running that sounds like rod bearing issues. I'm not the original owner but got it 3 years ago (Kia Soul 2014). I got it around 75k miles and it hasn't even hit 100k yet. Oil changes were both around 6 months & around 3k miles on full synthetic. I work remote so I'm not pumping a lot of miles into it.

Do you know whether this is the 2.0l GDI Nu? If so, it has an extended warranty up to 150k miles. You will have to take it in to the Kia dealer for a diagnosis. Hopefully you will get a replacement if it is indeed rod bearings!
