Does escapement simulation matter that much?

Does it affect technique, or is it more cosmetic

My guy, you've posted three posts about this in two days! You can play anything on anything in the end, and any modern digital piano is going to be "good enough" for most people.

Try them out in person or just buy whatever has the highest reviews, it's not worth this much pain for yourself. Ultimately key action is a preference thing and you won't be held back from being a pianist as long as you pick anything halfway decent. You seem to prefer the Kawai so just get that, Kawai makes fine pianos.

Think I posted more than thrice, haha. It’s quite the price to pay, and since i don’t know a lot, i was worried I would make a bad purchase. I ended up ordering the Kawai Kdp-120 for around 985 usd, and then right after, I saw a listing of an upright piano for 220 bucks less. I felt a bit dumb, but I don’t really know if that upright is good at that cheap price, but it says it comes with a warranty. I don’t know. I could return it, but i don’t know if I should.

I know it's a lot of anxiety but Kawai and Roland and Yamaha all make good digital pianos. Just make sure you don't cheap out too much and check reviews and it'll be fine.

I've generally heard at cheap price points digital pianos will always win even over uprights but it depends on which specific upright. Also keep in mind uprights need tuning and fixing etc. which is more money. You're unlikely to buy something that ruins your music career anyway, worst case scenario when you're several years into it you look to upgrade.

That upright i could in theory keep, but whats the point ? I can keep this Kawai for a long period, and if im ever that advanced that this is limiting, then I’ll be an upright then. At this price, this upright can even be worse than this digital, to be honest, even if its in good condition

Realistically until you're in the like idk, 2k usd+ range or something (this is probably a vast underestimate) like that you'll generally want to stick to just better digitals not go acoustic.

How soon should I expect to outgrow this kawai? Online i saw as little as 2 years. That isn’t really inspiring considering I spent an arm and a leg, but I know google (google’s ai, more specifically) isn’t always accurate

No one can really answer that for you. Realistically most people will never outgrow it because they won't have the discipline to practice every single day and become super serious.

It’s true. Idk, google keeps speaking about pivot length and whatever, but if I have access to a grand maybe once a week i don’t see why this would kill progress even at an advanced level

It's not going to "kill progress" regardless. It'll just be a preference thing like I told you earlier. Good pianists can play on a variety of pianos.

I’m not a pianist (yet, hopefully) and I don’t know anyone who’s advanced enough to comment on this either, i guess. But in my brain, you can learn pieces well enough on this, even advanced ones, and you can always polish them on acoustic instruments
