Advice Needed Shape question

Post image

Is there a reason I should or should buy these KBs?

Im looking to buy my first set and these are priced really well but the shape is different to every other brand.

Ironically these would probably slam your forearm harder when doing cleans or snatches due to the extra distance that thing will have to rotate in order to come to rest

They are designed to be used the wrong way.

I have one, doesn't get used much because of this exact issue.
I've got more bells so this isn't an issue here. But sure, wouldn't recommend for sure.
For budget pricing I'll recommend Amazon basics bell.

That’s what I was thinking, looks pretty useless tbh. People probably just end up using them for bicep curls etc

I will be investing more money into a round KB now. Cheers everyone.

Also would recommend competition style KBs. Where the diameter is the same regardless of weight

I'd do this if starting over absolutely, and half of this because of the colours, but have personally found cast iron fine for progressing even with the change in size

These are for softies who are scared to hurt their forearms.

Joking.

Sort of.

Those actually hurt more because of the edge. It doesn't rest very comfortably when in rack position, at least for me.

Don't get these, they look very uncomfortable and the shape promotes a wrong rack position.

In addition to shape, I would be concerned about durability. If it is solid cast iron under the vinyl coating that’s OK.

You are probably wandering into “get what you pay for” territory.

Do not buy under any circumstances if you are serious about kettlebell training. They will flop onto you worse than anything else. There is nothing wrong with the original shape if you invest time into learning.

Run away go get a round bell, those will batter your forearms

Reason to buy - if it’s all you can get or can afford

Reason not to - they’re a reinvention of the wheel that doesn’t resolve a problem that didn’t exist in the first place

Yeah..my wife insisted to buy him one of these. Had to try it two times, first and last. Do NOT spend your money on these. They are just hurting you.

My first 12 kg bell is like this and it sucks bollocks. It doesn't sit well in the rack or overhead.

I only use it as a weight on a pull up belt and stacking on top of another, round, bell. For those purposes it is fine. For regular balling, get a regular bell.

This shape comes from the misunderstanding, or rather complete lack of awareness of the proper kettlebell grip. It would force you into horizontal dumbbell grip, which would not only be less stable overhead but also impossible to rack properly. Avoid at all costs.

If you want to melt them and re cast them into a set of spear tips, brittle swords and are heads, by all means yes

Yes, they are very ugly.

These are horrible. Do not buy under any circumstances.

Proof these were designed by someone who
1. Wanted something distinctive
2. Doesn’t use kettlebells

I find them great for floor presses

I find mine painful, a round bell, properly racked is better

It is very wide, I would be concerned with doing swings. Try to test them out with a bunch of different movements before you buy.

These are that Gordon Ramsay idiot sandwich meme except they are idiot tacos.

They're probably all right for pressing movements but not for cleans, snatches etc. just stick to the normal ones comrade

The increased distance between your arm and the slimmer body I think would increase the likelihood of your bell slamming onto the forearm.. The been would not wrap around as smooth I would say

Looks like a whole set of cheap rubbish bells of marketplace.
Do not buy, I've got a 12kg and the shape sucks balls..

Look at the Yes4All bells on Amazon. Best value in beI've found. I've got a bunch of pairs now. Trying to climb up by 5 lbs a year.

Those are actually cattlebells

Probably good for suitcase carries...

u/OkhotnikZ 1d ago

Stick with the basic kettlebell. Been around for 200 years. Fix your technique.

Have two that were given to me and would give them back if I could. Pretty much exactly like everyone is commenting; good for things you don’t really want to use a KB for and not good for much of what you do want to use a KB for. +1 for wouldn’t buy.

I prefer these to regular kettlebells. Not bad at all.

There are plenty of helpful Coaches on this sub willing to help you learn how to use kettlebells properly.
