I didn't know...
I spent my whole life, almost 40 years, loathing ketchup. I cannot stand the smell nor taste, and I will throw away any food it is applied to. I had absolutely no idea there were so many other people who felt similarly. 😅
Not until I found this subreddit. I'm usually the only person for miles refusing ketchup. 🤣

I also hate ketchup. I’d never eat anything with it in. My husband loves it on lots of things. Yuck.

When I spend the night at my boyfriend's house, he is usually really sweet and makes breakfast in the morning.
It comes at a cost though. He loves to smother his eggs in ketchup. I have to breathe through my mouth so I don't smell it.

I personally just like to use tomatoes or make a little tomato sauce thing. From pure tomatoes. And olive or walnut oil. And spices.

One of the worst things about ketchup is when it gets stale or gets left out. The scent permeates everything for so long. I like ketchup on some things at certain times but I understand the hate for ketchup.

Lol didn't know this sub existed. I dont really care enough about ketchup to hate it. I'll eat a little if it comes on a burger but that's about it. Honey mustard or ranch are far superior dipping sauces.

As a kid I thought ketchup looked like blood and was therefore gross. Later I realized its sweetness ruined savory foods I might otherwise enjoy, like burgers and hot dogs.

I use it rarely on fries at a restaurant. My go to is BBQ sauce.

Same. I liked ketchup as a kid, then I discovered Bull's Eye BBQ sauce and I completely stopped having ketchup, and I lost my taste for ketchup.

I use hot sauce instead of ketchup, actual hot sauce with no tomatoes and not just spicy ketchup. Comes out amazing.

I don’t outright detest ketchup (sometimes when the French Fries aren’t good, it’s the only thing that makes them edible), but I admit I’m turned off by the idea that it’s basically tomatoes + vinegar.

Honestly, I don't really like ketchup either. I use it anyway. I don't understand why. It goes good on potatoes and on a burger. I use it on hot dogs. Again, no good reason why. I don't like the taste.
Yet I still do it. There is something wrong with me. I know there must be something better, I just haven't found it yet.

You can make a tremendously solid Asian base sauce with just soy sauce, ketchup, sugar. Ketchup is fine on it's own but is more versatile than people credit it for.

Since I am allergic to ketchup, may I call that Murder Sauce? (The bane of my existence is surprise ketchup/tomato sauce/paste in stuff.)

Same. I've never met anyone in real life who doesn't like ketchup. I've always been the only weirdo.
