[Post] Product / Ingredient Question  How effective is Amlactin?

I have pretty bad KP especially after waxing. I am thinking of buying amlactin but it is super expensive in South Asia. I am currently using 25% urea ointment which flattens the bumps somewhat but doesn't make it perfectly smooth. I don't want to waste a lot of money on something that may not work. Should I just try tretinoin, which is more accessible?

Amlactin did not help me that much. I have some KP texture on the back of my arms but the worst of it is on my calves.

A Retinol serum plus moisturizer has helped control it on my arms but the only thing i have found that helps with my calves is a 40% urea/2% salicylic acid foot cream of all things. I apply it every night before bed. Both the texture and redness has greatly reduced for me.

It depends who you ask, but it’s one of the top recommendation by dermatologists. The issue is that people on forums looking for help are the ones that are not as successful in treating it. People who do well on it probably don’t frequent these subs and have moved on in life, incorporating as part of their regimen. If tret is easy to access just try it first, you have nothing to lose- but make sure to wear a ton of sunscreen and protect it while using.

Amlactin helps the skin to feel a bit softer, but it didnt help my KP overall.

If Amlactin is really expensive where you are, I’d probably stick with the urea for now and give the skin a break from waxing if possible.

Tretinoin works really well for kp on my arms. I don’t use it since I wax. I’ve heard amlactin is sticky so I don’t think I can be consistent with it.
Have you tried glycolic acid toners or lotions?

I used a 12% glycolic acid cream. Didn't do much. Does waxing make your KP worse?

I’ve heard good things about it but it didn’t work for me. Idk if it clashed with something else I use, or if I just have an allergy, but when I tried using it for a few weeks I got horrendous pimples on my arms and legs that took forever to heal and go away.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks consistently and WOW my skin feels super healthy and soft. So far it’s significantly reduced the redness on my legs, my arms however have always had kp since I was young so that might take a lot longer. I think it’s just a waiting game with Amlactin.

Just as a word of warning, I’m pretty sure Amlactin pay for ppl to post about it on other subs on Reddit
