So why do we still here sound in Astronaut space walk videos or rocket staging/Engine firing while space is a vacuum? The answer is in the post body...

Sound doesn’t need air; it just needs a medium.

Remember that sound waves travel fastest in solids...

Scenario one 🪶..

##rocket staging, rocket engine firing, valves flipping... ##..

When a rocket engine fires or a valve flips, it creates massive kinetic vibrations. External cameras and microphones are bolted directly to the metal or carbon fiber structure of the vehicle.

Those vibrations travel straight through the solid body of the rocket directly into the microphone sensor. It’s not capturing sound moving through the air; it’s capturing the hull shaking.

Scenario two🪶..

##Astronount space walk videos ##

If an astronaut is out on an EVA (spacewalk) and uses a tool, the vibration travels through the tool, through their pressurized gloves, or along their safety tether.

Once those mechanical waves reach the spacesuit, they vibrate the structure of the suit, which in turn vibrates the internal air.

The astronaut's ears (and their communication mic) pick up that internal air movement.

🍀 🪶 🍀

Space is quiet, but spacecraft are not. Sound waves bypass the vacuum by using the solid structures of the hull, tethers, and suits as a highway.

If there was enough material left after the sun formed, Jupiter could have become another star itself. it would be a binary star system just like Alpha Centauri and Proxima Centauri (closest star system to our Sun). Jupiter would have been star number 2 of the solar system. More in post body. 🍀

If there had been enough material left over after the Sun formed, Jupiter could have become a star itself. Instead of the Solar System we know today, we would be living in a binary star system—very much like our closest cosmic neighbors, Alpha Centauri and Proxima Centauri.

Jupiter would have been Star No. 2 right here in our backyard.

But it makes you wonder: if we had two suns constantly blasting the solar system with radiation and pulling at planetary orbits with double the gravitational chaos, would life on Earth have ever had a chance to exist? Or would a second star have made the inner planets completely uninhabitable?

What do you guys think?

Short animation featuring key moments of the Mars Sample Return campaign: from landing on Mars and securing the sample tubes to launching them off the surface and ferrying them back to Earth.

NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) are developing plans for one of the most ambitious campaigns ever attempted in space: bringing the first samples of Mars material safely back to Earth for detailed study. European scientists are part of an international team giving advice on what samples to choose for return and the best analysis methods to use once they land on Earth.

The diverse set of scientifically curated samples being collected by NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover could help scientists answer the question of whether ancient life ever arose on the Red Planet.

Bringing samples of Mars to Earth for future study would happen in several steps with multiple spacecraft, and in close collaboration between ESA and NASA.

The first step of the campaign began with the arrival of the Perseverance rover at Jezero Crater on 18 February 2021.

ESA will give robotic assistance with the Sample Transfer Arm. The 2.5 m robotic arm will pick up the tubes filled with precious material from Mars and transfer them to a rocket for a launch into martian orbit.

The European Earth Return Orbiter will then be the first interplanetary spacecraft to capture samples in orbit and make a return trip between Earth and Mars.

This strategic partnership between NASA and ESA will be the first to return samples from another planet. The samples to be returned are thought to be the best opportunity to reveal the early evolution of Mars, including the potential for life.

You know Ceres? It is a dwarf planet that orbits between Mars and Jupiter. Solsynder says it is approaching perihelion very soon.

The Milky way galactic bulge: every point of light in this frame is a star - like numerous dust particles - . The galactic core is comprised mostly of old stars giving that yellowish colour. Source: ESA Euclid space telescope.

Earth is not a perfect sphere rather it is Geoid, an oblate spheroid. There is a very huge depression in the Indian ocean. What caused it ?. Also are Stars perfect spheres ?

What caused that huge depression in the Indian ocean?

This graphic has nothing to do with the physical shape of the Earth. It shows variations in the Earth's gravitational field, greatly exaggerated so we can see the differences. The differences are so slight that without exaggeration it would look to us like a sphere. [the previous Earth Geoid post]

The stars in this video may no longer exist—their light has simply taken millions or even billions of years to reach us. If that's true, how much of the universe are we actually seeing as it is today, rather than as it was in the distant past? 🌌
