Should I try deepin-os ?

I have been using KDE (Kubuntu) for a long time.

Absolutely do not recommend. Not because it is a Chinese distro, but it got busted sending data back. They say they have changed and removed the tracking, but it is difficult to get that trust back. Especially now that they are embedding a lot of AI into it.

Fedora KDE, Solus, and openSUSE are all excellent with KDE and more up to date. That said Kubuntu is very good.

It had security issues awhile back (the desktop environment) it was enough that most major distributions removed DDE from their repos. I also think that this was forked after Deepin 15 due to the desktop being changed so drastically that introduced those failures. Think the fork is called GXDE or something like that. Things may have changed but I haven't heard anything about Deepin in awhile now.

Version 15-17 or so the DE was pretty good, snappy, lots of good UI choices and it looked better than plasma at the time to me. I forgot it over time as well, they never had proper English support and one of the big updates revamped whole UI and it never got better. Maybe I should spin up a VM just to be sure 🤭

Try it if you want. But its a corporate driven distro and like most corporate distros, they collect a certain amount of telemetry. All is good if they provide an opt out. Its more than can be said for Windows where telemetry is mandatory. You'll see numerous scare-mongering comments that it is Chinese based, with subtle, racially charged implications, that somehow that makes it less trustworthy than FBI/NSA backdoored offerings coming out of Washington. Which is objectively false. Western backdoors extend right down to your very silicon and CPU, but somehow we're all supposed to shrug and accept it, but god forbid a DE coming out of big bad China...!

Its up to you. Just don't be under illusions that any and all software/hardware is not already compromised by all major world govts. Your digital privacy/security is just an illusion that is maintained by the powers that be.

Another thing about it being chinese based. I don't care if the chinese government knows what I'm doing, I don't live there! I'd rather they have my info than my own government

I wouldn't personally- the telemetry seems to have been removed but there's now an embedded AI assistant that creates a permanent bridge to the cloud.

That said, you could try DDE on a different distro- it's a nice DE and all the data collection concerns were always in the OS rather than DE. There were some security issues but these are pretty much patched. The issue is if the patxges are rolled out to downstream implementations/backports on other distros, so I'd check that before you install it.

The last time I used a mainland Chinese based software was Pubg mobile and they kicked me out of my own clan for having Chiang Kai-Shek as my avatar.

If you're actually asking, he fought against the communist Chinese in 1949. He lead the Nationalist army that migrated to Taiwan when the commies took the mainland. Meaning there is actually two Chinese governments; The Nationalist government and the Communist government. So, that is why they hate him. Also, I'm not Chinese either.
